I just noticed the small capacitor on my SR20 distributor is fried. Although the car runs ok I feel like acceleration/deceleration is not as smooth as it used to be. Does anyone know what the consequences of a fried capacitor are? Should I be looking for a new distributor?

Needs replacing as said. Make sure you get the correct replacement distributor.

You don't need to match part numbers as some are interchangeable with each other but you do need to watch out which type it is...Early types are a double plug connector and later ones are a single plug type.
