hi everyone im new to this forum.
I have a Nissan Primera 2002 plate car and i am only getting 23 or 24mpg max also i have noticed the petrol needle goes down very quickly i have only had it for a week now.
Some details about the the car:
2002 p12
Petrol
78,000
60,000 service history.
What do you think can be wrong and also what can i do to improve this, i have heard that a primera can do 65mpg????????????????????????

Welcome !

I've never heard of a primera doing 65mpg. My diesel doesn't ;)
Is yours a manual or auto? manuals have better mpg.
That said, 23 is low, lammy has the options...
One other thing, is that 23 on the display or calculated? Display is usually a bit on the negative side.

other tip: do a search on "P12 fuel" on the forum. You'll get some hits ;)

its a manual.
it is most likely 23mpg as it is doing something like 60miles for about £15 and the fuel light comes on.
someone on ebay is selling a primera and he has stated it can do UPTO 65mpg which i think is a lie.

Weeellllll, it just might do 65 when coasting downhill with the wind in the back

Have a look here for some practical numbers:

Check your tyre pressures, check for leaks in the tank if you think the gauge goes down to fast.
You do need to calculate the actual MPG and the bes way to do this is to fill the tank to the absolute brim. run on a full tank and fill to brim again then calculate your consumption.
