    Posted: 10 Jan 2010 at 2:48am
Hi All, I have been in contact with popswoo and he has suggested that I ask the forum.

I have a Japanese imported Primera P12 2.5 SW 2001, and because it was built for the domestic Japanese market the only language for the DVD/Navigation/Stereo/Air Con is Japanese. Now I know that I can not get Nissan maps for New Zealand (where I am), but I would like to at least interact with the stereo and aircon in English. I am assuming that the unit is essentially a computer and that the language and menu system of the unit is just software. So, is it possible to update the software and in doing so change the language from Japanese to English? Cheers, vidiot.

The language is hard coded into the DVD unit (not the disk).  The Japanese NAV unit is different to the European one.

The Australian Skyline club got their cars reprogrammed by someone from Xanavi in Russia, who specialise in converting Jap cars to Russian. They do the P12 into Russian, so it is possible.
They paid around 250$NZ each based on 30-40 potential Customers.

I have seen this come up several times. Post on the NZ Primera site to see if there is enough interest. As I understand it the NAV has to come out to be reprogrammed.

Use Google translator http://www.xanavi.ru/
