Congratulations for October 2010 go to...................

ALL THE NPOC GUYS AND GALS (and their guests) who represented on the NPOC stand at JAE 2010!

In this special Feature Of The Month (to replace our traditional COTM), we'll try bloody hard to look back and take it all in (again), as we review the club cars, club members, club activities and well... Just review it all! This feature is purely one dedicated to the NPOC and what we did at JAE!

Anyways.. WELL DONE to all of you who were there, you did the Club proud! You'll see photos of the NPOC cars splattered all over the place in here.. They looked amazing!

The Intro:

JAE (Japanese Auto Extravaganza) is a long standing Jap car meet and over the years has grown from what was originally a weekend get together for some Old Skool Datsuns, to the biggest annual Jap car meet outside of Japan!!

The whole event runs from Thursday through to Sunday (September).

What you'll find at JAE is the UK's finest Jap Car Clubs (and some from Europe too), their members chilling out and a few thousand serious Jap cars!

We have a massive club stand at JAE and we all camp directly it and socialise on it for the whole event.. We lovingly call it the "NPOC Village"! We had around 60 club cars on display and our numbers (members and guests) totalled around 90!

Thursday:

The Staff Team were on site a day earlier than the rest. This was to make sure everything was OK with our plot, erect the gazeebo and decide how we would set up the stand for the weekend.

Friday:

Friday saw the start of the JAE sporting / inter club events as well.. Late afternoon saw the Karting Qualification take.

This was the 2nd year JAE had held an inter club karting event. The JAE organisers went with a 2 person team per club (1 male / 1 female) and a clever twist of a clothing change midway through the race! It was more a comedy fun event, than a flat out pro kart event and was better for it too.

We entered an NPOC A & B Team and the good news to start Friday off with was.... Both our teams had got through the Quali / knockout stages and had made it into the Saturday night final!!

Here's our 4 Karting Legends!

The other members who arrived throughout Friday (some at the crack of dawn), started washing and waxing their cars, spending hours detailing and bringing them up to an incredible standard for viewing.

Friday night was spent chilling out in the NPOC village but this year with an added bonus! The Club Owners dug deep into club funds and gave the nod for a fantastic chilli for all who were there. This was a freebie for all. We did 2 chilli dishes, normal and a hot dish - Both went down a treat. Thanks go out to "Biojoba" who did all the prep and cooking for this one.

Saturday:

This is pretty much the "all systems go" day! The public roll in through the gates to check out the cars and the clubs lock horns and continue the sporting battles. I'll cover all of this in more detail below.

In between all of that, the NPOC members also found time to continue prepping their cars, for the public viewing and also the NPOC competition.

As mentioned above, we also held our own annual car judging competition on the Saturday on the NPOC stand, the cars were absolutely stunning!! It was constantly mentioned that judging and voting was just soooooooo hard, because the cars were so evenly matched.

The NPOC Sporting Teams:

We entered teams and individuals into every event at JAE (except the Tug Of War) and before we cover any of that.. MAHOOSIVE RESPECT to all of you who represented the club here.. AND a big shout out to all of the remaining members, who supported from the sidelines too!

The Footie - Again we entered a 5 a side team:

No silverware bagged here but a worthy mention that we did beat the NCN (again)LOL

The Car Pull - We entered this again this year and as we had the current champion from 2009 "Mad Maru" eager to defend his crown, he was hyped up and made angrier by the fact he had to pull a Honda LOL!... I can happily announce that he won the competition!!!! 2 years in a row now, can he make it 3?? A big well done here and our 1st trophy of 2010 won at JAE for the NPOC.

Twister - I guess it can't be easy living with ^^ "Mad Maru" ^^ when the house is covered in trophies that he has either won for his car, or won at JAE in the sporting events.. So his partner "Caroline" decided to take part in the Twister Competition at JAE. This was the 1st year this event had been added to the inter clib agenda and proving anything he can do, she can do just as well.. Caroline won this event and bagged the club our 2nd trophy.. Well done Mrs Maru!

Gladiator Jousting - "Dyp" was up for this one and stepped up to the plate for the challenge! His nickname of "Schwarzenegger", stands for a few things LOL... One of which proved to be his mighty strength and jousting ability!! He bagged the trophy for winning this event for the club as well - Trophy number 3!! Well done Arnie!

Tyre Endurance / Strongman jobbie - Our resident giant "Mad Maru" had a go at this and there was some confusion as to what was what (down to the JAE Org disorganisation again), so to cut a long story short, he didn't win but well done anyways!

Jap Eating Competition - Our Gladiator Jousting Champion from above "Dyp", was hungry (pun down LOL!) for more success, so he represented the club in this comp. Sadly he didn't win but he did manage 3 quarter pounders with cheese later that night during the club BBQ!

The Tug Of War - You should all know that the NPOC (and their team known as the Bears), were defending JAE Tug Of War champions from JAE 2008 and JAE 2009 - This means we were undefeated champions. Due to a load of behind the scenes political bollocks, involving other car clubs and the JAE Org, the JAE Org changed the rules this year, which effectively meant we could not field our winning team!! In protest we declined to take part in the competition - This was their loss.

NPOC Stand Competitions:

When the above inter club competitions had started to end, our members and guests returned to the NPOC Village. We ran a fun competition through out Saturday on the NPOC stand - We called it a "Toss Off"! In a nut you had to lob 5 rubber thingies into 3 different sized hoops and score points. We invited everyone to have a go at this, in our search to find NPOC's "Top Tosser". I can tell you that the winner was "Twelve" and what a tosser he is!

NPOC Quiz - We decided to see just our brainy our members and their guests actually were (or actually weren't LOL)! So we held a team quiz competition on Saturday afternoon as well. Teams of 4 or less were formed and 20 questions were asked... The winners with a massive 10 out of 20 correct were Team "Smog on the Tyne plus an Adoption", who were made up of "Quaily", "Geordie", "prim-n-proper" and "Nordic Scooby". They bagged this nice trophy:

JAE Inter Club Karting final:

As already mentioned, we got both of our teams through the qualification stages and into the final on Saturday night (which was a stupid time to hold an event!).. Anyways, I can very proudly announce that our teams finished 1st and 2nd in the whole event w00t!! Sadly only 1 of our teams could have the trophies for 1st place and so "barrakuda" and "LauraGT" took home the hardware!! "moogymum" & "riggsy99" were our other team finishing 2nd - Well done to all 4 of you.

This win in the karting meant we had now bagged 4 of the inter club trophies!

NPOC Show N Shine:

This is our own club competition and EVERY member who has a car on the stand could win a trophy. What makes this a special event is that the judging is done by the members. Anyone who won anything can be happy that they won it, due to the admiration and respect of their fellow members.

The votes were counted up and shortly after the club BBQ in the early evening, the NPOC awards ceremony took place.

The trophies were presented as always by "essNchill" and here's the categories and your winnersClap Here's the trophies ready to go:

Best P10 and winner of the trophy was: "prim-n-proper"

Best P11 and winner of the trophy was: "riggsy99"

Best P11-144 and winner of the trophy was: "Yogi"

Best P12 and winner of the trophy was: "bigsydney"

Best OE / Standard Spec and winner of the trophy was: "Taz Taylor"

Best Show & Shine and winner of the trophy was: "Angel1"

Best Primera on stand and winner of the trophy was: "Mad Maru"

Runner Up and also receiving a trophy was: "P12 DMR"

A big well done to all of youBow Down

Taking care of our 2 "non car related" Club Competitions, 2 further trophies were presented as well.

For being the clubs "Top Tosser", member "Twelve" won this award.. But being the tosser he is, he had sadly left JAE to get back to workOuch So I presented it to myself on his behalf:

The winners of the "NPOC Quiz", also stepped up to receive their trophy as well:

Saturday night was (as is tradition) PARTY NIGHT in the NPOC Village!! Once we had got the BBQ out of the way and the trophy presentations out of the way, it was time to demolish the massive amount of drink!! All of the drink was paid for under the catering option we provide and we didn't run out.

Between the excellent fireworks display (put on by the event organisers) and the brilliant and friendly chat amongst friends, the drinking continued into the early hours as Saturday night became Sunday morning...

The Nissan Club Nederland (NCN):

In 2008 & 2009, we invited the NCN members over to the NPOC village as our guests, we had such a great time with them, it only seemed right to have them back again!!

The 2 clubs have now formed a good and lasting relationship and this year at JAE we decided that instead of having 2 separate stands with a distance between us, we would unite and share the same space! This meant we all camped together.

It also meant we displayed our club cars together (although we did divide the clubs) and it also meant that with their mighty fine club marquee next to ours, we had a good (and dry) community chill zone.

Whilst we were keen to respect that they are their own club, as has been tradition on the Saturday night they were invited to the club party!!

Let's have a look at the NCN cars:

PS - Did we beat the NCN at footy again this year??

OH YES!LOL

Here's what the NCN peeps had to say about their experience at JAE with the NPOC:

"RikP10eGT" wrote: First up, I want to say thanks to all members of NPOC for your hospitality. It was a great weekend again this year. The BBQ was great, 3 burgers and I was stuffed so they were really good. I got home around 01:15 dutch time (00:15 UK time) and I drove 1400 kms this weekend. But it was all worth it.

"Jeroen_NX" wrote: Big thanks to all you guys for a great weekend again. BBQ was great, late night conversations really funny!

"Sylver84" wrote: I wanna thank you again, it was and still is really the best weekend I am having all year. Had a big laugh and spoke more english then dutch this weekend. I am back again next year.

"Sunny1600" wrote: Had a blast with you guys (and girls of course). Hope to see ya'll next year in good health. Really had fun with you guys drinking the beers and the small talk.

"Bas (NL)" wrote: I want to thank all the NPOC people for the awesome weekend I had at the JAE, we Dutchies really enjoyed it! Hopefully see you all next year.

"Jano" wrote: I wanna thank eveyrone @ NPOC for yet another excellent JAE!!! Didn't think it would top last year, but it really did!! I can't wait 'till next year - Thanks again!!!!!!

Sunday:

The last day of JAE for us all! It's always a sad one, as we all know JAE is ending and we're gonna be packing away the tents and loading the cars up and then having to wait another whole year. We get the morning started off well, with bacon butties and fresh juice for all.. Then it's just a matter of time until the clear up starts. Some left early to avoid the traffic, others stayed as long into the day as they could.

The food, beer and fun:

Every year we do a catering option for the members and we keep it cheap too! £10 of your finest gold coins bought you: Unlimited tea / coffee for the whole event, as much beer / wine / coke as you could drink on Saturday night and a BBQ. Still hungry on Sunday morning? Well we also made you all bacon rolls as well! £10 bargain and if you were an Elite Member, well that was a freebie for you.

"Biojoba" & "essNchill" took on the yearly task of sourcing the catering for the club as always and were assisted by many members. Special thanks to all the members who helped cook, carry the supplies and clean up - Thank you!

So let's take a look at the chilling / drinking and just having fun and forget the cars, I'll also close this feature with some quotes and feedback directly from you guys and gals who were there..

"p11sr20" wrote: Well been home for about 1 hour from yet another great JAE with the fantastic members of NPOC! Thanks first to the club owners for organising such a great location yet again along great the food and drink. Next to NPOC Mum (Cazza), Ant (dat) and Andy (gizz) for their tireless work cooking all the food.

A massive well done to everyone that entered the inter club events and bringing in yet another massive haul of trophies for the club.

It was great to see some of the newer members and JAE virgins, the usual suspects and some old faces, you all made it such a great weekend.

Looking forward to next year already, although Ace Cafe isn't too far away now!

"Twelve" wrote: Fantastic weekend! Was great to meet a lot of new members and of course everyone I'd already met.

Thanks have to go to the club owners for organising everything. Caz for all the effort she puts in over the weekend (and every other meet). Shaun for making me laugh so hard it hurts. Jonny-Young for the new wing, really has made the world of difference to the car. And of course everyone that attended for making the weekend what it was.

"PrimeraPowa" wrote: Been at JAE today, was a good day, good NPOC turn out and met a few more new people and cars.

"nabber" wrote: Just got back and a big thanks from me and Col for another great JAE! Was good to see the club winning the trophies and well done to the contestants for eclipsing last years haul! You are all stars, it was great to see everyone again.

A big up to the club organisers especially Caroline who always works tirelessly every year at JAE to make sure everyone is looked after good and proper - I think we demonstrated this year that we have one, if not the biggest followings at JAE. Roll on next year!

"Jonny-Young" wrote: Well what can I really say apart from massive thanks to the Owners and staff for a brilliant weekend and a massive thanks and applause for Caz who worked tirelessly this weekend to make sure we had a great time and was fed and watered.

Was nice to meet some new faces and catch up with the usual suspects aswell as our NCN buddies. The calibre of the cars going from strength to strength year on year and thats a true testiment of our superb members who make JAE what it is. I'll bow out now by saying roll on next years show season (after ACE).

"barrakuda" wrote: I can only repeat what's been said already. Shaun G & Ade, you're all stars for organising all this. Sluffs, top work with the events, needless to say, I really enjoyed the Karting. Caz, it can never be said enough how grateful we are to you for sorting the awesome chilli & the food and drink for Saturdays BBQ & Sundays brekkie & generally for just being fantastic.

"prim-n-proper" wrote: Thanks to everyone for a fabtastic weekend, with special thanks to the people that make this an extra special weekend .... Cazza, Shaun, Ade, G and all the others that work tirelessly to make everything go smoothly.

As Rich said on Saturday night,  the cars in this club just seem to be getting better and better and I was really proud of our stand, all the cars were beautifully turned out so it was a real honour and surprise to get my eGT voted for, so big respect to everyone and thanks for voting for my P10, can't wait to meet up with you all again.

"moogymum" wrote: I can't really put into words how utterly amazing and special this weekend was for Tim and I. We were both made to feel so welcome by everyone and the food and organisation were second to none. Tim was so very impressed with everything that was laid on for us all and it ran faultlessly. The food was fab and Cazza did such an amazing job looking after everyone big and small. We both loved the camping even though I was sandwiched between Nabber and Tezza's snoring! Lol

Thanks to Fluff, Cazza, Shade, G and all the staff for making the weekend work so well.

Thank you, everyone, for making the weekend so special for us, and we are already looking forward to next year.. If I missed anyone out I'm so sorry but I'm knackered and am trying to sort the boys out while I type this!

"Quaily" wrote: Huge thanks firstly have to go to:- Caroline, Shaun, Ade, G Ant Dat.... And all the other people involved including members that make JAE work so well. You're all stars in my eyes, and I love you guys to bits.

I had a blast this weekend and it really was fantastic, it may have started with rain and clouds, but it certainly didn't dampen the spirits in any way. Its just been a great weekend full stop, and one I could never tire of attending with the same club and members as NPOC is all about the community and then the cars.  The members on NPOC are legendary and worth every single mile to see time and time again.

Thanks again for a thoroughly enjoyable JAE 2010 with the Nissan Primera Owners Club, the club like every JAE goes from strength to strength. Long live NPOC

"grayspeed" wrote: Absolutely top weekend, thank you to everybody!

"shade" wrote: Was another great JAE, and now Josh is going to be there every year as well. He wouldn't let me go without him.

You lot are all stars and it's you that make JAE what it is. Top bombing everyone!

"Sluffer" wrote: What another fantastic JAE! Many many many thanks to the fellow Staff members & the 3 club owners for all their hard work in previous months and during JAE for making it an enjoyable and successful weekend, but a huge huge thank you to the fellow members and their families / partners who came and made it such a great weekend, couldn't have done it without you.

"peetee" wrote: Big big thanks to the Guys and Gals who made this happen and looked after us so well - Especially Caz for the chilli and Caz, Ant and Andy for the bacon on Sunday morning! It was great to meet all the old faces and loads of new ones too.

"Geordie" wrote: Wow, what a weekend. My first JAE, and I'm sure I'll be back next year. Superbly well organised by Shaun, Caz, G, Ade and all the team. Huge respect goes to you all for the efforts you put in to make sure this event goes like clockwork (or as near to it as is humanly possible lol).

Thanks to Caz for the chilli on Friday night, super stuff..very yummy.

The standard of the Primeras on the stand was absolutely outstanding, and a testament to all the hard work which goes into them. The stand really was impressive, and I was hugely proud to be a small part of something very, very good!

I have to mention Cameron here. I took my 10 year old son, Cam, to his first major meet this weekend, and I am a bit humbled by the time taken by everyone to make him feel welcome and happy in what could have been a daunting situation for him. He absolutely enjoyed every minute of our trip, and kept asking me to book us in again for next year as soon as I can. The club as a whole really put a smile on his face, and as a result of that, an even bigger smile on mine too. This really is a great club, with great members, and I for one am really proud to be a small part of it.

"yogi" wrote: Fantastic JAE once again, really enjoyed my self from start to finish meeting up with all the NPOC family and the new guys too.

The quality of cars this year was immense and you could tell the competition was going to be tight due to the amount of people working on there cars during the day.

Shaun, Ade, G three fantastic guys running the club behind closed doors that we all don't see alot of there hard work thanks guys.

Cazza, NPOC Mum etc thank you for all your hard work over the weekend - And to all that helped with the BBQ and breakfast well done your all stars!

Big thanks goes to Shaun making me feel very welcome! As it was my first JAE alone this year, I wasn't sure if I was gonna feel a bit left out but all my friends old and new thank you so much I really enjoyed myself. All the cars on stand looked great, the standard is getting higher every year so I must try harder!!

"Taz Taylor" wrote: Wow - what a weekend! Awsome cars, simply awsome. It was so evident how serious the members are about keeping the mighty Primera going and showing them off. The members make any club and this is so evident in NPOC. I'm a new face to NPOC and everyone was gleaming in making both me and my dad welcome. THANK YOU

A big thanks to the club admin. Your hard work and effort was so obvious, in as much as from our point of view everything went without issue. We didnt have to think. Just sat there, got fed, got watered, got pointed in the right direction at the right time for the football etc and got sent to bed when I had so obviously had far too much cider!!

I would also like to say how choked I was to get some silver. Thanks to everyone who voted for my car. I honestly didnt expect it, I'm truely humbled.

Thanks to everyone who went to this and made it a great weekend. (NPOC rocks)

Thanks to everyone for making Ellie and Jessie feel at home and part of the npoc family. To both the Caroline's you are fantastic with my girls its like their best friends are there with them all the time, so I feel really relaxed at such a big event.

The NPOC Admin / Staff team and Caz for doing a fantastic job as always. Your organisational skills are brilliant. You always make everything run seamlessly. Ant and Andy for doing a stonking job helping out with the cooking.

Further wanted to say big thank you for everyone from the bottom of my heart who voted for my car. It made all the pain and effort I went though all worthwhile. It was great to see the black GT army win. All the cars on the stand were just fantastic, I found it so hard to judge the cars.

Roll on next year!

Our congratulations go out to those who competed in the events going on and an even bigger one to those who won!! Go NPOC!

Just had a fantastic time meeting new people and hanging out with what I can only say that NPOC has to be one of the friendliest if not THE friendliest bunch of car nuts brought together by the magnificent Primera :)

Can't wait for next year... Already started getting the car ready :)

** A final note from me Shaun ** - I'm usually one with a lot to say! But having read all of your comments above, there's really not much more I can add!.. BUT I did just want to point out that the success of the Nissan Primera Owners Club, is entirely down to all you guys and gals who take the time to represent us, both online and offline - Thank you all so much, you make NPOC what it is - Well done YOU!

To close this one, the NPOC kicked ass (again) and won 4 of the inter club sporting events at JAE, because we won more club events than any other club in attendance, we defended our crown (from 2009) of the overall "It's A Knock Out" Club winners trophy. In total we won 5 trophies / eventsClap
