It's what works in reality though, hence the Internet hearsay not being true

The fella that built the exhaust told me it was too big, as would any other company making exhausts, but it had been proven time and time again on VE's to be beneficial, Iv even known people use them on DE's without complaint. Problem is until people try things and dyno it back to back you never actually know for sure what works and what doesn't, mine felt miles better with a 3" system compared to a 2 1/4" system, maybe 2.5" would of been a compromise but considering my VE makes a bucket load of torque low down and screams at the top there's no real need for the compromise, before its even getting started it makes more torque than a stock de ever does

i do have to admit i agree with you when i think back, my old Cinquecento Sporting hard a tiny 1242cc engine that was basically stock but i had custom built a 2.5 inch exhaust for it with twin ducati 916 cans at the back and it was silent but the engine was sooooo fit, i then trasplanted it into a friends seicento where it had a 2inch ss exhaust and it never ran right.

Bottom is a supersprint 1.75inch system, top is my custom made Mild steel system (first one i ever made and it was a cut up land rover disco 200tdi system lol)

how it sat at the back

So 90s dude. Its been proven time and time again a 3.0" system gives very good hp and torque increases across the whole range on DE & VEs. Even with mild mods.
The BTCC sr20 ran a 3.0" system for a reason.

Back pressure is a myth.
