Congratulations for October 2013 go to...................

ALL THE NPOC GUYS AND GALS (and their guests) who represented on the NPOC stand at JAE 2013!

In this special Feature Of The Month (to replace our traditional COTM), we'll try bloody hard to look back and take it all in (again), as we review the club cars, club members, club activities and well... Just review it all! This feature is purely one dedicated to the NPOC and what we did at JAE!

Anyways.. WELL DONE to all of you who were there, you did the Club proud! You'll see photos of the NPOC cars splattered all over the place in here.. They looked amazing!

The Intro:

JAE (Japanese Auto Extravaganza) is a long standing Jap car meet and over the years has grown from what was originally a weekend get together for some Old Skool Datsuns, to the biggest annual Jap car meet outside of Japan!!

The whole event runs from Thursday through to Sunday (September).

What you'll find at JAE is the UK's finest Jap Car Clubs (and some from Europe too), their members chilling out and a few thousand serious Jap cars!

We have a massive club stand at JAE and we all camp directly it and socialise on it for the whole event.. We lovingly call it the "NPOC Village"! We had around 30 club cars on display and our numbers (members and guests) totalled around 50!

This year also saw us in a new location at the event.. All the "behind the scenes" politics aside, I think most of us were OK with this new stand location.. No real complaints from anyone - Thank you.

Thursday:

New for this year was the event opening it's gates to the clubs on Thursday! Traditionally it has just been the NPOC Staff Team on site on a Thursday, to set up the club stand! With some extra hands, we made light work of sorting the stand and getting the club marquee nice and erect (lol!). It was nice to have more members with us on Thursday but it's still a quiet place to be on Thursday!

Friday:

The other members who arrived throughout Friday, started washing and waxing their cars, spending hours detailing and bringing them up to an incredible standard for viewing.

Friday night was spent chilling out in the NPOC village but this year with an added bonus! The Club Owners dug deep into club funds and gave the nod for a hot dog night (as a freebie), for all who were there. This went down a treat! Sadly the rain made an appearance on Friday and it rained most of the night and during the Friday Freebie Hot Dog night!! But nevertheless, the NPOC Chef's just got on with it and got wet too hahaha!

Saturday:

This is pretty much the "all systems go" day! The public roll in through the gates to check out the cars and the clubs lock horns and continue the sporting battles. I'll cover all of this in more detail below. But for now, let's look at the members cars (Nissan Primeras) on display and doing the club proud on Saturday!!

We also hold our own annual car judging competition (with some awesome club trophies to be bagged) on the Saturday on the NPOC stand, the cars were absolutely stunning!! It was constantly mentioned that judging and voting was just soooooooo hard, because the cars were so evenly matched.

The NPOC Sporting Teams / JAE IKO:

As much as I tried, I couldn't muster any interest from the members this year, to enter the usual It's A Knockout JAE Inter Club competition - No idea why but hey ho! In short, we entered just the Time Attack Karting and the Gladiator Jousting again.

"dyp" defended his JAE title in the Gladiator Jousting and brought home the 1st place trophy for the 4th year running! Is he unbeatable or funking what!

"roy.2" and "dopeygti" paired up to take part in the Time Attack Karting and didn't win anything but had a cracking laugh nonetheless!

Here's some action shots featuring our members taking part:

NPOC Quiz - Back for the 4th year running, we decided to run an official NPOC Quiz again on Saturday for 2013! Teams of 4 or less were formed and 20 questions were asked... New winners this year again and they were, "Rocker_Kev" and his partner Linda, "shade" and his son Josh - Well done to all who took part and well done to the winners.

NPOC Show N Shine Awards:

This is our own club competition and EVERY member who has a car on the stand could win a trophy. What makes this a special event is that the judging is done by the members. Anyone who won anything can be happy that they won it, due to the admiration and respect of their fellow members.

The votes were counted up and shortly after the club BBQ in the early evening, the NPOC awards ceremony took place.

The trophies were presented as always by "essNchill" and here's the categories and your winnersClap Here's the trophies ready to go:

Best OE / Standard Nissan Primera and winner of the trophy was: "trigg51"

Best Modified Nissan Primera and winner of the trophy was: "Mad Maru"

Best Show ‘N’ Shine Nissan Primera and winner of the trophy was: "Taz Taylor"

Best Primera on stand and winner of the trophy was: "essNchill"

Runner Up and also receiving a trophy was: "prim-n-proper"

A big well done to all of you - The standard of cars was simply outstanding! Bow Down

The winners of the "NPOC Quiz", also stepped up to receive their trophy as well:

We also had members come out and join us for the weekender, who no longer own a Nissan Primera (or there Primera was off the road).. But still remain part of the family!! Here's a look at their cars:

Saturday night was (as is tradition) PARTY NIGHT in the NPOC Village!! Once we had got the BBQ out of the way and the trophy presentations out of the way, it was time to demolish the massive amount of drink!! All of the drink was paid for under the catering option we provide and we didn't run out.

Between the excellent fireworks display (put on by the event organisers) and the brilliant and friendly chat amongst friends, the drinking continued into the early hours as Saturday night became Sunday morning..

Sunday:

The last day of JAE for us all! It's always a sad one, as we all know JAE is ending and we're gonna be packing away the tents and loading the cars up and then having to wait another whole year. We get the morning started off well, with bacon butties and fresh juice for all.. Then it's just a matter of time until the clear up starts. Some left early to avoid the traffic, others stayed as long into the day as they could.

The food, beer and fun:

Every year we do a catering option for the members and we keep it cheap too! £15 of your finest gold coins bought you: Unlimited tea / coffee for the whole event, as much beer / wine / coke as you could drink on Saturday night and a BBQ. Still hungry on Sunday morning? Well we also made you all bacon rolls as well! £15 bargain and if you were an Elite Member, well that was a freebie for you.

"essNchill" as always took on the yearly task of sourcing the catering for the club as always and were assisted by many members. Special thanks to all the members who helped cook (and special thanks to my normal BBQ wingman Andy "gizz"), carry the supplies and clean up - Thank you!

So let's take a look at the chilling / drinking and just having fun and some selective car and group shots, I'll also close this feature with some quotes and feedback directly from you guys and gals who were there..

"Geordie" wrote: "Cameron and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves today. Despite being snowed under with stuff at work and home at the minute, we didn't want to miss it completely, so the drive down and back in one day was well worth it. Great to see the regulars, and meet some new faces too."

"Stevie-Boy" wrote: "Just wanted to thank everyone who went along for a fantastic four days. Great to see old faces and meet new ones and to see some people who will always be very special. That's my first JAE since 2009 and I had such a great time. Top quality banter as always, NPOC spirit in buckets, loved the voting and the quiz and just a huge thank you to anyone that worked hard to make that happen, whether it be driving the van with all the stuff, the guys doing the shopping or anyone who buttered a bun or put the kettle on... Looking forward to Ace now"

"prim-nproper" wrote: "Big thanks to the people who make this possible every year, totally enjoyed it as usual. Even though the numbers were down on last year it didn't make any difference to the atmosphere on the stand. Well done everyone for making the weekend what it was!"

"dopeygti" wrote: "Awesome weekend away even with the rain, great company, good banter and great food! I will always be at JAE as long as NPOC are. If you've never been, go !! Danni says thank you for making her feel welcome too."

"Sluffer" wrote: "A huge huge thanks to everyone that came either for the weekend or just visiting for the day and made it yet another cracking JAE despite being down on numbers and the worst weather we've had since 2007. It was a nice relaxing weekend with old friends / members and JAE virgins, a big shout out to those that made the weekend possible with the shopping, cooking, food prepping and general organization for the event and to all those that won trophies on the Stand and Steve "Dyp" in the IKO."

"shurv" wrote: "Was a really good meet, me and Gemma both enjoyed ourselves! The rain didn't even bother me after a while. Thanks to everyone who made this possible and the cooks."

"MiniGT" wrote: "It was mine and Hannah's first meet and it won't be our last. Met some really lovely people and had a great time. We will definitely be back again!"

"Criteria" wrote: "Had a fantastic time at my first JAE, I'll be back again next year for sure. Thanks to the BBQ bitches and their helpers and thanks to everyone for making me feel welcome over the weekend, it really was great meeting and spending time with you all. Also a big thanks to Taz, Katie, Janner and co for welcoming me in when I arrived late on Thursday night, it was a great start to the weekend. The Dutch guys were a great laugh all weekend also."

"twelve" wrote: "Been looking forward to this one for a while and it didn't disappoint. It was a shame the numbers were massively down on previous years but huge thanks to those that did turn up and made it an awesome weekend. Really enjoyed everything about it, even the shitty weather. It just made the club spirit stronger as we all pitched in trying to get the barbie covered over. Even those sat in the marquee were forced to help when the smoke and fumes went straight inside! I think I was one of the first to leave on the Sunday (even missed out on some BBQ pig strips) but with the rain looking imminent I wanted to get on the road. Massive thanks to Shaun, Andy and Matt for the cooking, and also everyone else that helped out around the stand. Fantastic weekend and despite some negativity towards to JAE and fuggles before the event I'm looking forward to next year, and hope we can get the numbers back up."

"FriedGold" wrote: "Yeah, an awesome weekend as always. Rain didn't stop play and the NPOC spirit was strong. The show in general was just OK, there were more trade stands than previous years but still nothing amazing. Shame about the Honda boys and their limiter bouncing antics but I did see a couple of RAC and AA vans coming in Sunday so I crossed my fingers the two were related! Overall though, as I said beforehand, it's all about the club and that side of it was as good as ever."

"Ant-Dat" wrote: "Was a cracking weekend despite the rain on the Friday night. As others have commented it was funny watching the BBQ nearly setting fire to the flag a few times on the Friday.  It was a bit crap that the stand was moved but to be honest, it looks like it was a better location. Massive thanks to everyone in NPOC, not just the people that did cooking / helping on the stand, or the owners for the free food on Friday but to everyone that turned up, as without all of us there would be no JAE. It is a good event and good to catch up with friends and have a good weekend! Hopefully it will have greater numbers next year as it will be moved back to it's original weekend date."

"dysopath" wrote: "As our second JAE it was going to be hard to compare due to the weather last year but regardless of the weather, I still thoroughly enjoyed myself. I would like to thank everyone for making it an enjoyable weekend. Primarily the Club Owners / chefs etc, for the great food! Very grateful for being allowed to take the caravan too."

"Gizz" wrote: "A big thanks to all who organised another top JAE, without you guys it would not be possible every year. Pity about the weather but what you gonna do!? So the stand had moved but sometimes change is good. It's the people that make this event special. You can not beat beer food and a little bit of Bump and Grind."

"dyp" wrote: "Amazing weekend. Big shout out to Fluff for letting me be his co pilot in Pinky! The one and only "Princess Fluffy" for looking after Kaii so Gemz could come up. Matt for helping me out when I realised my little leaky pop up tent and my man beast body are not a good match. The spooning was something special. To Ade / G and Shaun for organising the weekend, thanks to all of those who helped out with the cooking and Stevie-Boy (or should that be Stephie-Boy) for being the superstar with the USB charger."

"Rocker_Kev" wrote: "Fantastic weekend at JAE - Thanks to the staff  for organising and all the effort you put in and the lovely BBQs and drinks and food - Linda and I had a great time! I know the turnout was lower but we enjoyed ourselves and it was good to meet up and chat with everyone! All the cars on the stand were lovely - I got some nice comments about my car - I know it's not a GT and not perfect by any means but it's mine and I love it and I'm proud to be part of the NPOC family."

"roy.2" wrote: "Thanks to Shaun G and Ade for organising JAE for us, and to the chefs, helpers etc who fed and watered us all. Although we may think we have been pushed further down the site, I think it was a better spot. I know the numbers were down on last year but had we been at full strength, there would have been plenty of room for everyone. What else is there to say!?! A great time was had by all. Roll on next year!!"

"ragt20" wrote: "Another JAE gone and another top time had by all who came! The numbers may have been lower than previous years, the rain did its best to but a downer on things, but we got through all that and still had a smashing time. Great meeting up with the meet and JAE regulars along with the new guys and JAE virgins. Smashing cars, smashing people, plenty of grub and drink, recipe for a top weekend. We had our doubts and worries about stand relocation, but even that was good, wouldn't complain if we are in the same spot next year, even the different noodles were still great!!! Looking forward to the next one already!"

"trigg51" wrote: "Thanks to Shaun, Ade and G for the organising of NPOC at JAE, we all really enjoyed ourselves, considering the weather. Karen and Rebecca were made to feel really welcome at their first NPOC event, just shows the lurve in the club. Top marks for the chefs in battling through the storm that was Friday night, to ensure we all got fed. Did the flag survive? Looking forward to next year and hopefully some better weather. Thanks all!"

"Mad Maru" wrote: "Truly a great meet for all the reasons mentioned above and shown in the images that have captured what was a great NPOC event. Thanks to all that voted for GTT as "Best Modified Nissan Primera" on stand, I was truly chuffed and a big thank you to Grim for fixing what could've been a nasty accident waiting to happen, as the bolt on my top links had sheared off and sorting out my seized rear caliper (fuel saving is now amazing LOL). Also a big thanks to all who have helped with the car, most recently my very good friend John who carried out the recent modifications and respray on the car. Also a huge thank you to Caroline for making the meet as she was a lil under the weather when we arrived but she still managed to get all the baking sorted before the show, so folk had cookies etc to munch on after dinner."

"shade" wrote: "I love JAE. I knew it would be awesome, and it didn't let me down! Big thanks to Stevie-Boy for loaning me the Juke and a massive thanks to Rocker_Kev and Linda for 'helping' our team win the infamous NPOC quiz! Glad to see every photo of me, shows me with a beer, a fag or both in my hands, as usual!!"

"essNchill" wrote: "1st up... Big big thanks to all of you who came out to represent the club and who showed their cars on the club stand! Thank you, the cars (all makes) were brilliantly presented.

Thanks again to all who were there, for making the atmosphere what it was.. Not even the rain stopped the humour, fun and banter!

Some of you made long long journeys to get to this one, whether it was from the Tartan Land, or the Dutch Land.. Thanks for making the effort peeps! It was great to have the rebellious Dutchies dedicating themselves to us, rather then their normal club.

Thank you to everyone who in some way helped during the weekend, whether it be cooking / prepping / humping stuff into or from the Tranny van, keeping our stand clean, or just keeping things ticking along.. It was a group effort by all - Thank you!

Thanks to all who brought Firelogs and thanks to all who brought beer too! Special thanks to Mr & Mrs Dysopath for the cider again (very very nice!).

A special should out to Steve.. "Dyp The Gladiator", who stepped up and won this inter club event on behalf of NPOC, for the 4th year in a row no less!

I guess, what I'm really trying to say is... Thank you to everyone who made JAE 2013, what it was - Well done you!

A final thanks as well from myself, as you all voted my car to win "Best Nissan Primera", seriously.. Blown away again, it's great to know that I'm still getting it right and the love for Pinky is there - Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Special thanks for keeping Pinky looking this good to, Steve (Dyp), Graham (grim) and my girlfriend (who is a mechanic!) Laura (L_wylde).. Thank you, you share in my win too!

Many thanks and take care,
Shaun"

Congratulations once again to the members of NPOC!
