I have the engine idling problem where the Engine hunts to the point where it sometimes stalls when stood at idle.
reading around the forum it looks like this could be the SVC which I believe means the Suction control valve. I fancy doing this myself however the guide I found here describes the procedure for replacing the SCV for a diesel engine. so my questions are this Can someone point me to the page number in the factory service manual where this item is described? also is there any information available on this procedure for petrol engine P12 cars? |

Suction control valves are only found on the heavy oil engines, to the best of my knowledge.

That is correct, no SVCs on petrol engines. Exactly which engine do you have?

OK well I am new to these things , I have a 1.8 petrol engine, as stated it is hunting at idle.
the engine management light is not on , all diagnostics show no errors garage think it may be a lambda sensor only other thing I can come up with is PCV valve. |

I don't know if you have a 1st or 2nd edition P12, but I would try all the simple things first.
Make sure you have no bulbs out, perhaps do the earth fix. Check all the earth connections from the battery to the chassis and transmission.
Check the air intake is not blocked.
You may have a blocked cat
Could be the MAF
