Hi,
I have a 1.6 wagon, registered in 1999 but definitely a P11 not P11-144 and am attempting to change the clutch on my car. Am 100% sure that all bolts are removed and cables, driveshafts etc. are out of the way but the gearbox remains stubbornly immobile and I cannot get it to break free of the engine. Can somebody who has done this job advise how much force was needed to get the gearbox free? I fear it has jammed on the mainshaft splines. Any advice welcome. Thanks |

http://nissan4u.com/parts/primera/el_p11e/1999_3/type_4/engine_mechanical/engine_and_transmission_mounting/ You should remove: transmission control & linkagel and Insulator-engine mounting |

Thanks. As I have said I am 100% certain that all bolts and other peripherals (mountings/driveshafts/clutch cable/electrical wiring/shift linkage) are free of the box yet it refuses to part from the engine even when using trolley jack to raise and lower it. I have read you need to prybar it but am afraid to use too much force and knacker the bell housing.

Hi Theo. Check where the starter motor fits, there is a hidden bolt there that needs removing.

Shouldn't need that much force at all really, lifting the far end and shaking it around should get it to start coming out, if it doesn't then id say you must have an extra bolt somewhere!

did you remove the rear engine/box mount, and the couple of bolts from there?
2x 14 mm for the starter? sometimes I can be the dowels holding it together, gently try and pri it apart looks for sign of it stuck, |

Thanks all. Starter is loose so definitely not the issue, same with rear mount. I have looked a photos of 2nd hand units on flea bay so 100% sure all bolts are out. Will have to scrap the car if I can't sort it so will just have to give it some beans and hope for the best.

The 2 small ones at the bottom near the cross member - yes done (were a real PITA to get to as well). Are there 2 dowels only about midway each side (1 near bottom starter bolt and the other above the 2 main bolts at front side)?
