Hi there.
I have just joined the other day and this is my first post, so im not sure if this is the relevant forum for this topic, but nevermind!

I have an amp and speakers that I am wanting to install in my P12 (03). My only problem is that I cant see any way through for the power cable from the battery into the car.
I have already installed an aftermarket head unit, so I know what a pain it is to get into behind the console. Im hoping that i dont have to pull all that out again as a way through to the engine!!

    many thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forumHandshake
fitting accessories such as these is not really my area of expertise but could you not take a feed off the cigar lighter?

What aftermarket HU did you fit and how?

Its a Sendai bluetooth cd player that ive moved from my previous couple of cars. Compared to the other cars ive had it in, it was quite a bit more hands on. nowhere seems to sell iso cables to plug and play and nowhere sells fascia adapters either so i had to do it all manually. cut all the wires out resolder the new h/u in and then expand the hole from the original cd player with a dremmel saw.

I'm not sure that i could use the lighter for the power. I've just looked at the leads connecting it and theres a fair difference in size. The cable for the amp is quite chunky and has always in the past gone straight to the battery.
In previous times you can usually get through a gromit that leads to underneath the glove box from the engine, but i cant seem to find anything. :(

I guess so. it has the silver rings round the dials. no sat nav. apparantly the air con and everything is wired through the sat nav ones so i wouldnt have stood a chance at wiring in a head unit without big problems!
i'm guna take ur advice and try and take a wire off the lighter. My power cable has an in-line fuse so whats the worst that could happen?! (famous last words!)
    Here's hoping!

There you go look. This is the place to be!
Right behind the nearside suspension top on the bulkhead.

There's also the option to use the route behind the lh side arch cover. Is that near side? Can't get that in my head :(
I had it routed from the battery to the side, in front of the suspension top, then behind the plastic arch cover , then throug a rubber grommet arriving inside the car footwell, then onward to the back.

That's the same as in the pic Eric.
Looking at the front of the car the right side is our [uk] nearside
looking at the front of the car the left side is your [LHD]nearside
Nearside to us is the passenger side nearest the pavement/sidewalk/walkway.
The Offside is the drivers side!

The only thing I would say to you is that the P12 uses the canbus system which is it carries signals through the electrical system, changes can confuse it and cause all sorts of issues so just be aware!

thanks guys. i found the gromit where the electrics go into the car. In the end though, I didnt go that way. after looking under the glove box to where they come out into the car, i realised that feeding it through there wasn't going to be easy in the slightest.
What i,ve done in the end is this; on the back of the factory cd drive there was 2 wires from the battery as well as an acc (ignition) wire. I'd totally forgotten this after putting the head unit in. the head unit only required one and so ive used the other for the amp.
    Power all round!!

As far as any problems with the system, the only thing is that it doesnt read that there is an audio system connected, so it reads 'secure' on the screen. everything else on the system functions as normal like air con etc.
All i have done to get round that is to display the economy info instead. not an issue for me :)

So happy days! P12 with audio connectivity of all types and some quality sound! Rave
