Hi,

Just noticed the main heat shield above the exhaust is about to fall off, as it the one which is over the main exgaust . if it take it off does it cause any issues?

The heat shield is quite often removed when it becomes loose

It is obviously there for a reason but it has never been reported on here as causing a problem, mine was removed years ago

Not sure how similar the P12 is compared to the P11 but on my P11, 2 of the heatshield lower mounting holes are actually part of the lower exhaust manifold. A while back I modified the heatshield(for easier removal amongst other things) and the lower mounting points did not line up so well as they could have.

I left them off thinking no harm done but if the two bolts are not put in then the manifold actually leaks out of the mounting bolt holes! Was surprised to see this. The 2 lower bolts actually seal the manifold and stop any leakage. Was actually quite hard to detect as the holes are only small but it sounded like a very slight blow.
So not sure if the P12's are the same as the P11's? Probably not as expect it would have been noticed and mentioned.
