I thought it was about time to introduce myself. I've been a forum member since 2009 and never really introduced myself. I'm Arnold from the Netherlands, I'm a Primera owner since 2010. Since yesterday I'm the proud owner of two P11-144 Primera's. I still own my first Primera, which I bought in 2010. I bought my 1.8 Comfort (built 1-2000) with 150.000 km's on the odometer, currently it reads 312.000 km's. That means I've driven 100.000 miles with it without any problems. The car was fully resprayed in its original colour in 2015, inside and outside, it looks brand new. Unfortunately, some drunk driver hit me last week and ruined the entire left side of the car. So currently, my (our) trusty old Primera is at the repair shop, awaiting the second (partial) paint job. A friend had a decent P11-144 2.0 CVT M6 Sport Plus for sale, exactly the same color (KL0) as my other Primera. He planned to scrap the car, since no one seemed interested to buy it. He thought I could use it for parts, so I bought it. But to be honest, the car is too good for the scrapper, so I'm going to drive it as long as the other Primera is in the workshop and to repair some minor issues. I'm quite handy as a mechanic, I work as a technical trainer and technical writer for several car manufacturers and automotive suppliers. But nothing beats the combined knowledge and experience of other owners, so that's why I registered to the NPOC forum. As said, I have not been too active on this forum for the simple reason that I've had zero problems with the Primera 1.8. The 2.0 however has some small hiccups, which I hope to resolve with the knowledge of the workshop manual and the knowledge of the NPOC ladies and gentlemen. If you have any questions: feel free to ask!
Kind regards, Arnold |

Always been interested in the cvt model though I'd heard they were awful on fuel against a normal 2.0 ?

It true that the fuel economy is slighty worse than with the manual transmission. The trip computer says I'm doing 9 liters per 100 km (26 mpg), whilst my 1.8 does 7.6 per 100 km (31 mpg). I've also got a Lexus LS400, which does 18.5 mpg :-)
We'll see if the Primera 2.0 can improve it's fuel economy. This week I've switched tyres, from the original 16 inch 205/50's to the standard 15 inch 185/65 of my 1.8. I must say that drives a million times better than the larger tyres. |

I used to run 15's on mine during the winter from mine originally when I had 16" GTLE alloys fitted. Now my son has those on his 1.6 and I have a set of 17" 205/45/17 tyres fitted. It's noticeably different to the 205/40/17 they came with. Unfortunately I don't have my old alloys to use anymore and as the 15" alloys from my son's Profile model have well worn tyres I'm stuffed.
Just spent £200 on tyres for my wheels can't see the Mrs going for more money on " spare " wheels as she calls them |
