To be honest I have not heard of anyone having an issue like this and hardly recall an issue with these units that a battery disconnection has not put right, despite the number of units I see for sale on ebay.

So could it will be the console its self rather than the wiring?

I think it will be earth fault in the wiring. A multi meter on the connectors as recommended earlier is in order

That's an impossible one to answers, it would depend on the fault and location. finding which pin is not reading will indicate the wire then you have to trace it, not easy in my opinion

I'm having the same problem with my '04 p12 but the screen is blank as well. Disconnected battery last night for 20 min and it solved the problem - until this morning. Screen is blank again and no buttons work except rear demister...
