Hi imckay
the items you have linked are looking like the parts I have. Good find from Poland - at just about 100 pounds that is sounding a very good option. thanks for taking the time to look it up.

Hmm. The version you have does not seem very common.
Everything on Ebay/Google for P12 1.8 looks like the one I linked to. What about a used one? Poland seems to be a good place for hard to find Primera Parts.

The car has indeed a Dutch registration, LHD.
I found no sign of a leak in the exhaust system at any point. The serial number on Nissan4u gives a catalyst looking like the attached drawing. http://nissan4u.com/parts/primera/el_p12e/2002_4/type_26/exhaust_and_cooling/catalyst_converter/illustration_1/ It matches the item on the car. I am pretty sure its not part number - B08A0AU000. This also does not have enough oxygen sensors! |

This will be the Front Cat rather than one under the Car?
This gives a Part No of B08A0AU000 Have a Google. Can be obtained quite cheaply. Obviously do your own checks that this is the correct item. Service Manual for your Car Is this a UK Car? You mention KMs On the previous version of Primera, some owners fitted aftermarket Manifolds with no Front Cat. To avoid the Cat Error, the Oxygen Sensors were moved to either side of the Under Car Cat. No idea if this workaround would work for your Car. Find a decent Independant Garage. Will be cheaper and better than a Nissan Dealer for this job.

The bolts will likely be the biggest problem otherwise it would be a simple job.
The code you have got can come on for a exhaust leaks also, have you checked this? The joints in-between the first and second lambda sensors,If you have any leaks get them repaired first before replacing the catalyst. |

2002, QG18DE, Primera. After 251123 kms, 156040mls, the
Engine Management light came on and gave error Code P0420. Have run OBD11
checks. Car has two banks of Catalysts. On Bank One the oxygen sensor after the
catalyst is more or less following the sensor before the catalyst. Have also
been to two Nissan Garages and they both say I need a new catalyst. I am having trouble locating an aftermarket catalyst. Original
part code B08AU302. Have a quote of 2255 pounds for part and 300 pounds labour from
a UK Nissan Dealer! At this price it’s probably time to scrape the car. Am
willing to mount an alternative at a reasonable cost. Any ideas for the source of an alternative catalyst? Is the change an easy job? Worried about rusty bolts. Any comments? |
