Hi,
Just got a second hand original Blaupunkt Nissan stereo as I thought it would fit and work no bother.
As I've found out they are coded to the car so no joy! Just getting the secure message.
Is there any economical way around this? Not going to Nissan as the manual suggests.
Why is nothing simple any more! Any help appreciated!Unhappy
Cheers...

This MAY be the method for entering a new code.  Presumably you need to enter the code no. of the old radio.  Never tried it myself, so I can't answer any questions.

Blaupunkt Nissan Code Entry Turn on the radio, the display
will show 'CODE'

Press preset [ 1 ] repeatedly for the first digit followed by [ station + ]
Press preset [ 2 ] repeatedly for the second digit followed by [ station + ]
Press preset [ 3 ] repeatedly for the third digit followed by [ station + ]
Press preset [ 4 ] repeatedly for the fourth digit followed by [ station + ]

Finally press the [ station + ] button to save.

PS
A new £100 Pioneer sounds a zillion times better than that old Blaupunkt and MP3 CDRs to boot.

I am pretty sure the Head unit is coded to the ECU in each car.

I would (and did) buy a CD player. From £50 new. Maybe some used bargains after Christmas?

You will just need adapter cables - Around £3 on Ebay or £10 in Halfords/Car Audio shop.

You may need an ariel adaptor as well. I can't remember.

A lot of audio places decode stereos for around 15 quid, I'd imagine you could get the Blaupunkt one done in that way.

They are indeed coded to the specific ECU of the car they came with so your only economical choice is to see if you can get it done from a local audio place that decodes.

If you decide to go for another unit, check this out for extra info:

you can type in the code, this can be worked out with the serial number of the head unit, and one of the many online blaupunkt code calculators.

Me and a mate swapped the HU's in our 144's, typed in the codes, and they worked a treat.

do a google search, download a blaupunkt calculator, and have a go, if not, as others have said, just get a new CD/radio, you can pick them up from £40 these days, you'll need a harness converter, and to take an earth/ground lead from something metallic in the car. gotta be better than a radio cassette.

Thanks for all the info.
Might just get a new one then.
Stonegrey, what were the HU's saying when you put in the code? Mine just says "SECURE" even when left on for over an hour.
Cheers...

SECURE, normally means that the incorrect code has been entered more than the preset max allowed times, and the radio is now effectively scrap,

the HU in the 144's are different to the ones in the P11's, i think mine asked for code, we are going back a few years now mind.
