Congratulations for October 2014 go to...................

ALL THE NPOC GUYS AND GALS (and their guests) who represented on the NPOC stand at JAE 2014!

In this special Feature Of The Month (to replace our traditional MOTM), we'll try bloody hard to look back and take it all in (again), as we review the club cars, club members, club activities and well... Just review it all! This feature is purely one dedicated to the NPOC and what we did at JAE!

Anyways.. WELL DONE to all of you who were there, you did the Club proud! You'll see photos of the NPOC cars splattered all over the place in here.. They looked amazing!

The Intro:

JAE (Japanese Auto Extravaganza) is a long standing Jap car meet and over the years has grown from what was originally a weekend get together for some Old Skool Datsuns, to the biggest annual Jap car meet outside of Japan!!

The whole event runs from Thursday through to Sunday (September).

What you'll find at JAE is the UK's finest Jap Car Clubs (and some from Europe too), their members chilling out and a few thousand serious Jap cars!

We have a massive club stand at JAE and we all camp directly it and socialise on it for the whole event.. We lovingly call it the "NPOC Village"! We had around 25 club cars on display and our numbers (members and guests) totalled around 40!

This year also saw us in a new location at the event.. All the "behind the scenes" politics aside, I think most of us were OK with this new stand location.. No real complaints from anyone - Thank you.

Thursday:

New for this year was the event opening it's gates to the clubs on Thursday! Traditionally it has just been the NPOC Staff Team on site on a Thursday, to set up the club stand! With some extra hands, we made light work of sorting the stand and getting the club marquee nice and erect (lol!). It was nice to have more members with us on Thursday but it's still a quiet place to be on Thursday! This year saw the NPOC Stand sporting a new club marquee.. Belonging to NPOC Member Roy, he brought it along for our use and due to it's appearance, it was quickly known as FORT NPOC YAY!!

Thanks Roy, it was awesome and 100% weatherproof too LOL!

Thursday night saw Shaun (and G) do a mass Pizza run to Papa Johns and after spending a few hundred pounds (everyone chipped in) on some awesome Pizzas, returned to some hungry members hahaha!

Friday:

Some more members arrived on Friday and got settled in (cars emptied and tents up) and as the sun started to set, the club BBQ got fired up!

Friday night was spent chilling out in the NPOC village but this year with an added bonus! The Club Owners dug deep into club funds and gave the nod for a hot dog night (as a freebie), for all who were there. The NPOC catering team got their first chance to don the aprons and get it on - This went down a treat!

Saturday:

This is pretty much the "all systems go" day! The public roll in through the gates to check out the cars but for now, let's look at some of the members cars (Nissan Primeras) on display and doing the club proud on Saturday!!

We also hold our own annual car judging competition (with some awesome prizes to be bagged) on the Saturday on the NPOC stand, the cars were absolutely stunning!! It was constantly mentioned that judging and voting was just soooooooo hard, because the cars were so evenly matched.

NPOC Show N Shine Awards:

This is our own club competition and EVERY member who has a car on the stand could win a trophy. What makes this a special event is that the judging is done by the members. Anyone who won anything can be happy that they won it, due to the admiration and respect of their fellow members.

The votes were counted up and shortly after the club BBQ in the early evening, the NPOC awards ceremony took place.

The trophies were presented as always by "essNchill" and here's the categories and your winnersClap Here's the trophies ready to go:

"Best Nissan Primera" and winner of the trophy was: "ragt20"

Runner Up and also receiving a trophy was: "trigg51"

A big well done to all of you - The standard of cars was simply outstanding! Bow Down

We also had members come out and join us for the weekender, who no longer own a Nissan Primera (or there Primera was off the road).. But still remain part of the family!! Here's a look at their cars:

Saturday night was (as is tradition) PARTY NIGHT in the NPOC Village!! Once we had got the BBQ out of the way and the trophy presentations out of the way, it was time to demolish the massive amount of drink!! All of the drink was paid for under the catering option we provide and we didn't run out.

Between the excellent fireworks display (put on by the event organisers) and the brilliant and friendly chat amongst friends, the drinking continued into the early hours as Saturday night became Sunday morning..

Sunday:

The last day of JAE for us all! It's always a sad one, as we all know JAE is ending and we're gonna be packing away the tents and loading the cars up and then having to wait another whole year. We get the morning started off well, with bacon butties and fresh juice for all.. Then it's just a matter of time until the clear up starts. Some left early to avoid the traffic, others stayed as long into the day as they could.

The food, beer and fun:

Every year we do a catering option for the members and we keep it cheap too! £15 of your finest gold coins bought you: Unlimited tea / coffee for the whole event, as much beer / wine / coke as you could drink on Saturday night and a BBQ. Still hungry on Sunday morning? Well we also made you all bacon rolls as well! £15 bargain and if you were an Elite Member, well that was a freebie for you.

"essNchill" as always took on the yearly task of sourcing the catering for the club as always and were assisted by many members. Special thanks to all the members who helped cook and special thanks to my normal BBQ wingman Andy, (with extra cheffing help from Andy, Tom and Laura), carry the supplies and clean up - Thank you!

So let's take a look at the chilling / drinking and just having fun and some selective car and member mug shots, I'll also close this feature with some quotes and feedback directly from you guys and gals who were there..

Blue wrote: Can't even begin to express how special this year's JAE was. Everyone who came to this one just made it a fantastic event that I am rather ashamed to have been missing for the last four years. There are so many people that I would like to name but tbh, it's prolly worth me saying that everyone who came this year have my eternal gratitude for making it such an enjoyable gathering. The NPOC staff and the guys who have helped out with the BBQ etc deserve a massive amount of praise and respect. Thank you all so much.

Criteria wrote: My second JAE and I had a great time! Was really good to see you all again and to meet some new faces. Big thanks to the management for their efforts, and the chefs for keeping me well fed and thanks to everyone who made it a good one this year!

Dad's Taxi wrote: Simply put, Thank you to everyone. One of the best weekend's I have had and wanted to say JAE 2014 with the NPOC was brilliant. Made a few new friends in members I have not met before. I had a good chat and catch up with some I have known a while. HUGE respect to the admin for planning and everyone for making the NPOC the best club ever. Car related or not. Members first.

Gaz wrote: Epic JAE! I really enjoyed it and loved all the Primera's and non prims on stand and a massive thank you to all the staff for everything they do and bring on JAE 2015 - Let's get loads of members and their cars on the stand!

prim-n-proper wrote: Another fantastic JAE for me, this year, more than most. It really proved that this club is more about the people than the cars. fab weekend with friends old and new... Plus, I didn't get burnt by the BBQ! A big shout out to the hard working staff who make this all possible, not forgetting the resident chefs, Shaun, Andy and Ant, for feeding us, also the apprentice chef Tom who was a natural with a burger flipper. I'm already looking forward to next years get together!

Ant-Dat wrote: Fantastic time, great to see you all again. Was one of the best so far!

Tom-P10 wrote: Great photos everyone and what a great JAE!! Thanks to... Well everyone! We might of been low on numbers but the NPOC spirit was alive and well and had some great times, banter and getting the JB how I want it to be a bit more now (basically I needed to get my arse in gear and give it a bloody good clean and polish. Great JAE and great looking Primeras on the stand! Fantastic banter and all round just a brilliant weekend! Massive thanks to all the guys organising everything and pitching in with cooking, cleaning, erecting (LOL) the marquee etc.

twelve wrote: Fantastic JAE as always! Shame we had such a low turnout but all the best people were there. I'd love to see NPOC with a huge stand like we did the first couple of times at Wickstead Park but if it's 10 people or 100, JAE will always be cracking. Huge thanks to everyone the helped out on the stand, I think everyone got involved in someway or another.

Gizz wrote: Madness I say. Loved every minute of it!!

Stevie-Boy wrote: I loved JAE this year, thanks to everyone for making it a minter. Yes we were down on numbers but you'd never have known by the spirit, we showed out and it was a great laugh and a lovely time all round. Wouldn't want to single anyone out but all I would say is that if you stuck Nabbs, Col and Gizz on stage with a few beers and an open mic, I'd buy tickets. Would also like to thank those who spoke to Julia and made her feel welcome. It's never easy being brand new to an established group so yep, thanks to anyone who spoke to her and brought her into the group. She really appreciated that, she enjoyed it and would love to attend other meets which is great.

shade wrote: Epic JAE awesomeness, as ever!

Sluffer wrote: Absolutely awesome JAE this year, as been said many times before, numbers may have been down on recent years, but the spirit was most certainly not diminished in any way and this years ranks up there with one of the best JAE weekends I've had. I can't thank everyone who attended (whether JAE Virgins or regulars) enough, for such a pleasurable weekend. EPIC NPOC weekend.

trigg51 wrote: NPOC at Jae 2014 rocked! Definitely one of the better JAEs I have been to. As mentioned by others, although numbers were down we all had a great time. Many thanks to Shaun, Ade and G for organizing a great weekend and well done to G for his win. Roll on next year!

ragt20 wrote: The numbers may have been down but get together even the smallest number of NPOC peeps and it equals a top time. As always I enjoyed JAE again, meeting the regulars after a long while, and meeting all the noobs to JAE... Lower numbers just made it more of a close and personal meet. I'm looking forward to the next meet already!

bigsydney wrote: Can I just say a big thank you to all at NPOC for a 100% top weekend at JAE! The NPOC stand was fun fun fun!!

Terri E (FB) wrote: Had a fantastic weekend meeting up with great friends! Wish I was still with my JAE buddies.

Kim wrote: Had a fooking cracking weekend with the NPOC lads and lasses! I had a lot of laughs and a lot of drink - Thanks guys.

RAZZLE wrote: Thanks to all the NPOC crew that were at JAE! I had a wonderful weekend.

essNchill wrote: As already mentioned by everyone and well known before JAE even kicked off, we were sadly down on numbers. Why, who knows? I've heard dribs and drabs from people who didn't go, who normally would and it was nothing negative towards us as a club thankfully.

So anyways, off we went to JAE with a 60 car plot all ready and just 20 or so cars in attendance! At least we had plenty of space haha!

So the numbers were down but the spirits were higher! I think being such a smaller group than normal, made us a closer group and it was a great long weekend based on this.

Personally for me, it was easier cooking for 40 members and guests (on 3 days), than 100! It was also a lot more chilled for me at this one. Granted we didn't do everything we would normally do as a club at JAE but it meant it felt more relaxed.

So onto some actual thanks :)

Thanks to everyone that came out to JAE - We only represent at these big events, because you guys and gals want to come out and show your cars to the rest of the Jap car scene.

All your cars looked fantastic and it was noted that a lot of you spent everyday, religiously washing and waxing and polishing and they were a true credit to you as owners and us as a club.

Thank you to everyone who helped out at JAE, whether it was cooking, prepping food, cleaning up, tidying up the stand and just generally being there to help out, when I needed it. Even the offers that kept coming for help, when I didn't need anyway - They were appreciated too!

BIG BIG thanks to Roy for bringing the awesome club marquee - I think we all dubbed it Fort NPOC, due to the nice army (officially air force) green canvass hahaha! Anyways, it was awesome, it was waterproof and warm - Cheers Roy!

And here endeth my thanks to all - Seriously, thank you so much.

I really hope JAE 2015, sees us with more members and their guests and more cars.. Those of us that go each year, really enjoy this one.. Please, get to the next one, you really are missing out!

Many thanks and take care,
Shaun

Congratulations once again to the members of NPOC!
