So my car(2001 144, 1,8) has recently been giving the code P0301. First tried swapping the spark plugs - slight improvement in performance, but the code kept popping up. So today I tried swapping the coils between cylinder 1 and 2, and the code changed from P0301 to P0302. So I guess a new coil is next on the agenda!
Is this a part I should fork out for an original replacement part, or is any cheap option good enough? Considering it's getting on a bit, I don't really feel like spending too much if it isn't necessary. Thank you in advance for any reply! :)

Yup coil replacement needed since the code moved on to the next one, you can confirm by unplugging it with the engine running, no change in the engine idle/sound then it's defo dead etc.
If one has failed however the others may not be that far away either.A used coil will be ok. |
