When decelarating from normal driving and the revs reach about 1500 the engine sounds as if the big ends have gone but when it reaches about 1000revs it ticks over perfectly without the knocking. There is plenty of oil in the engine and there is no sound of any problem while driving along at normal or high speeds, any ideas! Thanks

Exhaust Heat shield then as said probably since it's only happening at a certain rpm.If you tap them,you might be able to reproduce the noise to confirm.Most likely to be the cat converter one.
Normally rattle the most from cold. You can safely remove it or clamp it with a metal tie or a big jubilee clip if it's just broken from one of the welds. |
