Hi guys,
I'm interested in the function of the two cooling fans. Is one dedicated for climate control, and one for cooling the engine heat? Or are they both for both things? I'm asking because one of the fans (the one on the UK driving side) died on me. So i'm driving now with only one working fan. Should i expect any problems? I suspect this fan is for climate control only, i will not be using it so i hope that will be alright until i find a replacement fan? Thanks a lot. Cheers |

They are both used for Climate and Cooling System.
With climate on the fans operate at low speed up to 102C and high speed above 102C With climate off, the fans are off until 96C, Low Speed 96C to 102C. High Speed above 102C Your one working fan should operate if the coolant temperature rises above 96C. Hopefully it would be enough to cool the radiator if the temperature rises. |

Thanks a lot for your answer. I have honestly never ever heard these fans working so i guess they were never at high speed. Also my engine operating temperature is always "locked" on 90c. I should see the engine temp rising if it's going to 102c+ right?

I never heard the Fans on my 1.6 or 2.0 Petrol Primeras either.
You should be able to see on the Temperature Gauge if the Coolant Temperature is rising.
