is there any difference between the service parts for the DET and the GT's DE? are the DET parts compatible oil filters, fuel filters, spark plugs, clutch parts.

would the DET parts be considered as upgrades or will they not fit. or are they just the same parts?

thanks

Oil filters are the same as p11's on the s14, different on GTIR though they are the same as the p10 sr20's. Clutches are all different, spark plugs are different, nothing to be gained from using them unless you have turbo's your DE but you won't be able to run the larger clutches then as it won't fit within the bellhousing

is the GTiR similar to the P10 eGT because they were both redtop, whereas the P11 GT had blacktop SR20?

also, being the same base, appart from the clutch, i would not have though that the spark plugs or anything else would have been different.

regarding the oil filter, would there be any advantage on getting an 'uprated' one with 'high flow' on a relatively stock car?

You can 'upgrade' fuel filter to Z32tt one. It's a larger one that will fit. There is no real performance upgrade, may flow a little better. It's just bigger so lasts longer. I changed mine and can say there is no performance increase noticed on the butt dyno.
Other than that, keep all bits as per FSM. Your running a stock sr20.

For 'free' performance upgrade do the usual TPS check, grounding, cable adjustments etc. All these go amiss after a while and perfoacne drops a little. Our cars are about 15 years plus old. So tweeting these things will see close to factory performance once again.

300zxtt and z32tt are same filters. Google for pics and chat about installing one to an sr20.

FSM is the factory manual you can download from this forum as a paying member. Very useful.

Do a few searches on here for advance timing. You'll see a bit of increase for sure.

Also search on here for tps.

i have heard a few people recommend sing the 300ZX fuel filter before.
i know you said that, ' there is no real performance upgrade', is this just in terms of the stock SR20 and ecu map, or in general.

i just had a look around and there are 'high performance' 'high flow' and the likes oh HKS, BLITZ, K&N parts available; will these just have a tendency to last longer and withstand more extreme temperatures as a pose to a performance advantage?

im just exploring the small things which may have potential to gain some 'power'/'performance' - due a service so want to explore options other than OEM?!

The spark plugs would physically fit but they will do nothing at all for you, they are colder plugs so not of any use on an otherwise standard engine.

GTIR engine has very little in common with any other sr20 for the most part. S14 sr20 has some similarity but nothing that would be of much use really

to what extent of modifications would the engine require to actually benefit from the 'uprated' parts. also as Brian said, if there is no advantage, its then just best to stick with OE Nissan parts.
