However, my knowledge on these is quite limited Embarrassed

Can any of you chaps or chappettes tell me how to disconnect them?

I've updated your thread title with your car model, please always include "Nissan Primera P11" in your thread title as it helps us identify your (or in this case your mum's) car at a glance.

The Immobiliser in the Primera is very well wired into everything. It can be removed and isolated but is an extremely difficult job to remove it.

What are the symptons that lead you to believe it's an immobiliser problem?

Hi James and a big welcome to NPOC.

Is the red light on the immobiliser unit (top left hand corner of the dash) going out, when you've inserted the key and trying to crank?

As Phil says above, the immobiliser is just 1 part of the NATS system in the car and whilst it will stop the car from starting (it cuts the fuel pump etc), there are a few other parts of the NATS system that may have become faulty which will have the same effect.

Give us some more details please fellaThumbs Up

Enjoy the forums and take care,
Shaun
