There are actually three different generations of P11.
The folling differences are based on cars with a SR- engine. Most of the differences apply to the rest also. The dates are manufacturing dates, NOT first registration! *96 to 10/97 = P11 -this is the first generation -twin plug distributor -256mm front discs (except GT and SE) -14" wheels -side feed injectors -engine codes SR20De (131hp) and SR20DE (150hp) 10/97 to 06/99 = P11-120 -15" wheels on all models -side airbags -280mm front discs -single plug distributor -bosch top feed injectors -different abs motor & control unit -rear indicators changed from clear to amber -Nissan FAST was introduced, so the codes changed to SR20DEL (former De) and SR20DEH (former DE) -WP11 was introduced -SE body came available with the DEH engine 06/99 to 02/02 the P11-144 -engine code changed back to SR20DE, since the 150hp engine was no longer produced -OBD2 protocol -hydraulic clutch -ate brake system -wings, bonnet, bumpers, trunk lid etc. were of a new design -carved front seats for more leg room -auto air conditioning -CVT transmission was introduced These are the biggest obvious differences. |

All P11's have ventilated front discs. The difference is that tve brake system is made by ATE in P11-144 and Girling or Lucas in P11 and P11-120.

Hi. I have year 1997 P11 1.6 with drum brakes on back 😑. Rolled 369 thousand km and still keeps going. My friend has P11-144 with 2.0 and CVT, snapped timing chain and is scrapping his car so I could get hold on bigger brakes and rear axle with discs with bargain. I think P11-144 rear axle will fit to my P11 with no brob, how about front brakes? Are there measure differences between front wheel hubs or could I just install 144's front brake brackets, calipers, rotors and stuff. If changing front brakes are no-go, there will be issue with brake balance, and if I understand correct FSM, there's no dual proportioning valve in P11-144 with CVT? Then I would have to settle just replacing drums with basic discs in rear (and it would be fine by me), getting P11's discs, brackets and stuff from car breaker for example.

Also there will be issue with P11 <-> P11-144 ABS sensors (are there differences in sensor harness side, obviously drum and disc sensors diff.) hand brake cables (drum vs. disc lever diff. obviously), brake hoses...? 🤔 So, easiest way would be settling on bargain 144's rear axle made for discs and getting P11's disc brakes parts for it?
Love my car, I am going to roll 450 k with it just to upset my co-workers who have Volvos, BMW's or Mercedes Sorry for going off topic there (and many more places). |
