Oh, I somehow missed your input Exstroker. I'll check the crankcase as well.

Well guys, as you advised i bought the MAF for 1.8 engine, took the "core" unit out and switched it with the old one. The engine runs fine, but i got the check engine light on. So i took the unit out and noticed that there is a thermistor (in circle) missing. Could i fit there fit thermistor from my old MAF to the new one?

Early 1.8 mafs didn't have a thermistor, they had a air temp sensor that goes in the intake pipe entrance instead, hence how it's possible to get a maf but without a thermistor.

You can fit your thermistor to the new MAF and it will fix the Engine Light.
It might take a few Days for the Light to go out.

Or just disconnect the battery terminal for 12h+ (or was it 24h+?) to reset the ECU.

Are you sure it will work (use thermistor data)? On the old MAF it says F 00C 2G2 060 while on the new one it is F 00C 2G2 039.

Yes. I have come across this before.
Early P11-144 had external Intake temperature Sensor. Later 144s had it on the MAF. Other people have moved the Thermistor and it had fixed the Engine Light You will have a P0110 Error (Air Intake Temperature Sensor)

Thanks, I'll put the thermistor in the new MAF as I'm getting the Engine Light.
btw. As you mentioned the P0110 Error, I tried to do selfdiagnosis (counting Engine Light flashes) but I can't get it to work.

The self diagnostics doesn't work on the newer 144's.
A plug in reader is not very expensive. A bluetooth one if you have Apple or Android very cheap.
Is the Car running better after changing the MAF? |
