Also, can someone confirm that the 1.8 maf will definately work in the 2.0 engine as i intend to get a genuine Bosch one from Eurocarparts....cant understand the massive price difference between the two at all

You need dexron iii auto transmissin fluid for the power steering. Not the same as brake fluid.
The 1.8 MAF will work on the 2.0. Just use the sensor. You will need a security torx driver to remove it.
Much cheaper because an exchange is not offered on the 2.0

The price for the 1.8 without the exchange is still a lot less than the 2.0 though.

They may be different but the 1.8 sensor works in the 2.0. There are plenty of people using them with no problems. £318 vs £58.

A faulty MAF normally shows itself by a very uneven idle and heavy fuel use and soon throws the EML on.
I've got the 1.8 maf on my 2.0 and the only difference between the two is the size of the maf body. The fact that they offer an exchange on them shows they must refurb them, never been able to understand why they can't refurb the 2.0 one.

For £58 they are reconditioned. Plenty fitted and I can't remember anyone reporting an early failure after fitting one.
This type of Bosch hot film MAF fitted to lots of car makes does seem to have a life of 70-100K miles.
I suspect that Bosch recondition by either changing the whole sensor or the hot-film part that wears out.
Ebay MAFs are very hit and miss.
