My Primera has an occasional fault in that sometimes it loses power and will only accelerate slowly (like it is in 5th gear at 25mph). The MIL light is not on and no fault codes are logged.
If I stop the car and turn off the engine, then restart, the fault is gone (for a while!).
I have looked through some posts here but nothing I could find quite matches this.
I don't know when the fuel filter was last changed...is this a possibility?
What about the dreaded suction valve? (not sure what it is actually!).

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Jon. Confused

Unfortunately it could be a host of things. Try a ecu/pump reset for starters info below the it could be list.
It could be a: -
blocked fuel filter
carboned up injectors ( A quality injector fuel line cleaner in the fuel may do the trick)
engine transmission earth strap fault
failing suction control valve
low pressure on the common rail feeding the injectors.
MAF fault (Try cleaning the MAF with carburretor or electrical contact cleaner.)
EGR Exhaust gas recirculating valve fault.

Nissan YD22/25 ECU and Fuel Pump Reset/Re-learn Procedure

To carry out the reset carry out the following.

Turn ignition on so all dash lights come on.

Wait 3 seconds PUMP accelerator pedal 5 times within 5 seconds....

With foot now OFF accelerator wait 7 seconds.

After 7 seconds press and hold down accelerator pedal for 10 seconds.

After 10 seconds the Engine Management Light will start to flash, at this point remove foot from accelerator. The Nav is now in diagnostic mode, so let the EML flash for a bit. the press and hold the accelerator pedal down for more than 10 seconds..this will then reset ECU and fuel pump etc......and put them into learning mode.

NOTE: When the EML light is flashing, this is listing possible fault codes... so if you know how to read the fault codes or know the sequences then you can figure out any possible faults with your Nav without getting the dealer to do it!!

Hi RSJohn. I actually experienced this problem yesterday and had to pull over and restart the car. I have had this on a few occasion where I accelerate and then I lose power and them take my foot off the accelerator and when I put my foot down again, then it would be fine. But yesterday was the first time I actually needed to pull over and restart the car for the problem to stop. Did you manage to find anything more on this or have you tried what Ernehale suggested?

Many thanks

rsjon - I have this problem - mine is fine, until it sits at idle for much over 1 minute, it then loses power when you drive off. It is most likely your engine going into "limp home mode". I never had any lights come on the dash when it happened. My local garage (independant - not a Nissan dealer) plugged in the fault code reader and the one that came up suggested Suction Control valve, which is a common problem on ther P12. The part is around £130 from Nissan. It is being fitted tomorrow - I dont think it is that big a job, a few guys on here have fitted the part themselves, but it is beyond my capabilities. I will let you know if it works. Also worth mentioning you apparently do not have to have Nissan reset the electrics when the new part is fitted - the ECU reset above will do the same thing - will update, hopefully tomorrow night with a bit of luck!

Nissan primera 2.2 diesel poor power on take off

Hello everyone. i had my p12 05 plate changed clutch, dual mass flywheel and gearbox just two days ago. Now the car lacks its usual engine power on take-off. The turbo whistling can not be heard anymore. it feels a different car completely. the car is the [s] type.

Can anyone help me please?

Many thanks

Sounds like the turbo is not spooling up.
Recheck all of your pipe work and check for cracks/splits etc.
