Hello,
A little help would be appreciated, please. Here’s what’s happening:
Any idea what I should poke, prod or massage to fix it?
Thanks in advance,

Hi Stephen. Sounds like something is sticking.
Try the manual locks on the underside of the doors.one may be part way across.

Thank you for your reply. Unless I'm missing something, there's no lever to move manually on the doors (unlike other cars I've had). My Primera has a fully electric system that operates via a button on the driver's armrest.

Sorry Stephen. you are right, I have just been and checked mine, there is a black thing there and the word LOCK, but it appears to do nothing. Like you say, unlike other cars.

No need to be sorry. It's kind of you to make the effort to help.

Thank you, Timeshock. That ties in with what I'm seeing on the car. I know it's tricky to say without seeing the car, but does your gut instinct suggest there's a problem behind the door card? An actuator, perhaps. Alternatively, could there be some value in disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes to see if something resets? It is a P12 after all..lol.
Thanks again. |

A lot of electrical niggles have been reportedly fixed by a disconnection of the main battery, so along as you are careful give it a go. I would press the child lock button a few times while the ignition is on if you have not tried that. The very fact you are reporting the actuator engaging and hence also disengages does not sound like the actuator unless there is a short either. It does not sound like the SECU as it is not affecting all the doors. You don't say how you get the other door to disengage, presumably through the button even though it is supposed to be off.

Thank you for that. Sorry to keep picking your brain, but if I disconnect the battery for 20 minutes is there a risk I'll have some sort of "secure" message for the radio, etc? I'd kick myself If I caused other issues!

No, you should be OK, the radio doe snot need a code, just be careful with your spanners and leads and don't short anything
