CAR OF THE MONTH July 2004 as voted by the members..

Mr Adrian Watson (SHADE) with his P10 eGT Hatch is this months winner.

CONGRATULATIONS Ade!

Without further ado we go to our COTM Interviewer Steve.

Well done Ade, as always let's start with your name and some information about yourself before we move onto the car.

"Well my name is Adrian Watson. I am a married dad of one and I run my own welding and fabrication business passed down to me from my dad. I have a hoooge mortgage and a wife who doesn't understand why I spend so much time, effort and money on my car but she tolerates it well and my boy loves it!!"

You're well known as one of the P10 faithful in the club, have you always been P10 through and through?

"Yup, ever since I had a job doing trade plate car deliveries and the first car I had to take was a 94' eGT. I soon realised that any 2.0L P10 was the best driving fun you could have, when talking about 'normal' cars anyway."

When you bought the car, were you specifically hunting an eGT hatch?

"Yes I was. Not only that but also one in either white or black and without leather or A/C. My wife doesn't like leather interiors and A/C is power sapping! I was also looking for a hatch. In the minority I know but I prefer the looks!"

Are you a petrol saver or a petrol waster? In other words, do you like to push your car or do you treat it gently?

"Lol. I am a big time petrol waster. I love booting it whenever and wherever I can, apart from in 30/40 MPH zones. But I don't drive crazy. You can drive fast without taking risks, nearly!"

How did you find the NPOC and have you always been a car modder even in your pre-primera days?

"Well I actually came across a link saying NPOC on Kev S's original site (SC: another shek fan!) while surfing for Primera stuff. It wasn't working at the time but I just kept checking back. I have always been into modding of one form or another, right back to when I had a Yamaha Fizz in 1982!!"

Naturally your fellow members are loving your eGT, howsabout a run down of what has been done to it, including the clear rears!!

"This is where I need a spec sheet, which I ain't got. The rear clusters are from a late model P10. I got em' off the bay for £20. They were metallic green when I got em'. I just sanded em' down, masked up the light lenses and painted em' with aerosol cans in my lunchbreak at work! Apart from them the car has a Laguna splitter, clear side repeaters, LK's silver bulbs in the front indicators, custom front grill, 16" Team Dynamics Cosmos with 205/45/16 tyres (about right I think, for a P10 that gets some stick), Supersprint backbox, homemade K&N induction kit, MOMO Race steering wheel and MOMO leather and aluminium gearknob, red Ripspeed pedal set. Replaced knock sensor!!"

What is your favourite mod and also what is the most difficult mod you have done so far?

"My favourite mod has to be my induction kit, cos' it's all my own work and unique to my car. The most difficult mod I have ever done, by far, is Shaun's twin exit zorsts, but I guess you mean on my car. Everything on my car has pretty much gone to plan really but getting the speaker wires to the front doors was a bitch of a job. I always come up with a plan, then spend a while thinking about it to try to overcome any problems before I encounter them."

Now you mention audio, lets talk ICE, we've all seen your steady descent into the addictive world of car audio, talk us through what you have now and give us some information on how you have your installation looking

"Well first of all I will say that my install is functional rather than aesthetic. I just wanted some decent music in my car and thanks to you ICE guys, the kit I have does just fine. For now! I am running a semi SQ system, comprising of:

JVC KDS735-R H/U
JBL GTO 4000 4ch amp
12" JBL GTO sub (bridged off two channels)
JBL 6x4's in the front doors (running off the other two channels)
All connected up with Phoenix Gold Quicksilver speaker wire.
Rear speakers are disconnected altogether! (SC: Good lad!). "

Any chance of letting us know some of your future plans?

"Well as most of you know, I already have a set of H&R 35mm lowering springs to go on, along with painted calipers (red) and a shortshifter. I am also at the 'work in progress' stage on an ally 'H' plate, a S/S de-cat pipe and a steel strutbrace. I am also thinking about adding a Scooby style bonnet vent, but it would have to have a use, not just cosmetic!"

It must be difficult juggling keeping this car so pristine with family life and running your own business, where do you get the time from?!!

"Trust me, I don't! For a start, my car is far from pristine. I try to grab a few hours here and there for any little jobs, usually at weekends when my boy is asleep. Any bigger jobs are taken on during the week when I should be working but obviously, when playing with the car I aint' earning any £££. There aren't enough hours in the day usually!!"

Another worthy winner chosen again by a members vote. Ade, the spotlight is on you, any plugging and thanking you'd like to do, go for it!!

"Well the obvious plug is Watson Specialist Welding (see the link on my signature) A special thanks goes to Chris and the LK's guys (for painting the grill), Mike P10 (for a good deal on my wheels), Shaun (essNchill), for letting me do his zorsts (and the Supersprint, lol) and everyone who voted for my car to be COTM!

Lastly, a big thank you to everyone involved in NPOC in any way. You all make my evenings entertaining and my car better and better. Life wouldn't be the same without you!! Cheers, Ade."
