Hi all

I have joined today to start my new quest.. to once again own and play in a gt. i had a p12 gt with high miles but sweet engine.

I broke mine and had to sell it as scrap, it still hurts. the gearbox blew while 'playing' with a m3 mind u it did have an idiot driver in it, you know the ones who can hit the throttle in a straight line but when it comes to cornering and keeping the line....... he was crap.... he did leave laughing as i wimpered....... as gear oil slowly oozed from my baby.

that was 2 years ago, i havent had the dosh to go find another gt in the condition i want it.

now for the advise......

is the p11 or p12 the better to drive, ie tuck in and hold!!

what mods should i steer clear of if its not me whos fitted them?

any tips on sorting a stronger gear box, i understand they can be weak, ha ha.

where is a good place to look for sweet ones as they are becoming rare now..other than ebay!!

many thanks all and hope to be driving a gt soon............ i do need help cause i am stuck with a volvo.................!!

Grim - you wind up!  I think you already have a queue of people for the Ginger (incl me!).

thedukes055 - good luck with the search.  Can you see the cars for sale section - not sure whether you can or can not see it if you are not a paying member.

search the normal places autotrader ,piston heads, ect. wouldnt worry about mileage to much as cars of this vintage need jugdeing on there own merit rather than mileage ect.

no - just travel past your way regularly between London and Plymouth.  You should hook with all of teh guys down Gosport way - no distance to speak of at all.  I think there might even be multiple GT owning members - who knows, you might and employ gentle persuasion and .....

Welcome to the NPOC,

I find myself in much the same dilemma. I bought my red GT off eBay about 3 years ago with 170k on the clocks. I put over 30k on the car and it was brilliant. Sadly in the end I just had to stop adding money to it and eventually broke and scrapped it. Much of it still lives on members cars

I can't help but want another now, and I shall one day!

Enjoy the search and don't be in too much of a rush there are a fair few out there.
