Subject: P12 Primera 2002 - Unable to find EML code meaning

Hi all,

I have a 2002, 1.8 P12 Primera.

EML randomly came on yesterday with onscreen warning. I've done the pedal process to get EML to flash the code.

But I can't find the code anywhere.

I'm getting 7 consistent long-ish flashes and one quick one. If it's error 71, would t it be 10 + 10 + 7 + 1? I'm confused.

I have also searched this site. But. Any seem to find what I'm looking for.

Thanks in advance.

The Code should be 4 Figures

It should flash constantly, repeating any error codes until you switch off the ignition
If you had a 71 it should flash.
10,10,7,1,10,10,7,1 10,10,7,1,10,10,7,1, etc
Try filming it

Or get an OBD2 Reader
Handheld or Bluetooth for Android/iOS

Nothing else happens.

The guys are trying to help you read the code correctly and you are only giving a small picture, please post up the repeating flashing code from start right through the whole cycleThumbs Up

I can do, but what's in the video is exactly what happens. Nothing else happens before or after the flashes except for a static EML.

PS: It doesn't repeat either. It's static, I do the pedal stuff, the flashes happen as per the video. Then it's static again.

If you have no other symptom from the car indicating you have a running problem I suggest continue right through with the procedure to clear the code and see if it returns

Thank you. It's cleared for now. Just a worry when the error comes up saying not to drive at high speeds and there being a risk of breakdown.

Now that you have cleared the code it may be worth running the test again.
With no fault codes in memory it should be 0000 ie 10 flashes + 10 +10 +10 . It will give peace of mind that the system is working.

If in doubt give it a clout!

If there is a genuine fault the light will come back on after it detects the fault a couple of times.

And you have followed these instructions and have a p!2

http://www.npoc.co.uk/forum/p12-all-engines-read-reset-ecu-fuel-pump_topic54932.html" rel="nofollow - http://www.npoc.co.uk/forum/p12-all-engines-read-reset-ecu-fuel-pump_topic54932.html

when you do it correctly just count the flashes of the light it will give a repeating sequence of four digits, 10 flashes representing zero

Think you may be holding the pedal down too long ?
Take your foot off as soon as the MIL goes out I don't hear that happening in the video.
If you hold it down too long it goes into the idle relearn mode.

Yesterday my P12 stalled whilst waiting in a queue. It took a few goes to restart and afterwards it showed on screen a malfunction may have occurred and to go to a Nissan dealer. I have now removed this screen message by completing the reset function and at the same time the code was noted which is 0335. This code appears to be a crankshaft sensor. Should I continue to drive now that the message has gone or should I take it to a Nissan dealer for them to investigate. Or should I see it it reoccurs and then take it. I'm worried that it might happen at a more awkward time such as when I am on a long journey. What is the worst scenario?

What happens depends upon the actual fault. Sometimes (more often than not) it is a connector wiring wear/loose issue. Occasionally it is a faulty sensor and needs to be replaced. Should it be a genuine fault then this indicates a stretched timing chain, ignoring this could result in it snapping and destruction of the engine. It can be checked by removing the timing cover and measuring the distance of the indicator on the tensioner, I think it should be no more than 10mm. the last place I would take it is a Nissan dealer.
