Sorry now re-read rules hopefully this title is ok. My p12 1.8 has over last two days developed a complete lack of power and wont rev to more than 2.5k. It just started doing this without warning then it cleared and was ok. Now it's like it all the time, I've checked there are no fault code stored but it feels like it's a default mode or something similar. I suspected the airflow meter so unplugged it and the car ran better but still not above 2.5k. The unplugging threw up a fault code that now won't clear which makes me suspect the meter or wiring. Has anyone had any similar problems? Many thanks paul

It's the Maf sensor.

Only replace it with a oem maf ,cheap ones don't work properly.

Welcome (back) to NPOC

If not the MAF, it could be a collapsing CAT or Silencer.
Very weird one we have seen a couple of times is the Cover from the back of the Headlight falling off and blocking the Air Intake.

Collapsing cat/silencer would not effect how the engine revs or lack power,a blocked one would though.

On the p12 you would get a cat below efficiently code if it was collapsed and it would maybe rattle if left long enough due to the core breaking up.

I am pretty sure its not the cat as the car did run properly for about 20mins over the weekend lol. I will change the maf when it arrives and see but it definately feels more airflow/ fuel restriction related

Ok update on this changed maf sensor car is running slightly better but not much. Then turned off the lights and car picked up and ran properly until you turn them back on. Assuming it's a rear light earthhing problem now? Do ypu need new earth for both rear lights to fix it?

Just the one side required. No harm in doing both though.
