Nissan Primera P11 gear gaiter & shifter replace

in this video i will show you how to replace your old gear gaiter thingy and the gear knob 

REPLACING OLD AND TATTY GEAR GAITOR AND LEVER - LEATHER WITH YELLOW STITCHING +  LIGHT WEIGHT  RACING CARBON FIBRE AND ALUMINIUM GEAR KNOB  - Primera P11 GT 

very easy installation, no tools required 

quick how to; 
step 1 - from the back part of the ash tray surround, pull and lift up and out, but dont pull all the way out as there are some wires which you need to disconnect first. 
step 2 - disconnect the 12v power supply connector, there a tab which you press and it just pulls away, and then remove the bulb for the ashtray / coin holder area, the bulb simply just twists and pulls away, 
step 3 - twist off the existing gear knob, should just twist off, might need to use some force but will come off eventually. then the ash, tray surround can be fully lifted up and over the gear stick for ease of access.

step 4 -  unclip the base of the leather gear gaitor, the metal retaining clip should just pop out 
step 5 - position and press in the metal retaining clip of the new gear gaitor and position as the existing boot. ensure the clip has been pressed into the corners 
(step 6.1 - not always required, in the end i undone this anyway.. but remove the rubber grommet and metal clip and transfer onto the new gear gaitor from the old. see video) 
Step 6 - reconnect the ashtray light which will just twist back into place and push the 12v power supply connector back on too. then position the ashtray surround starting from the first 2 tabs at the front, and push down and press the clips into place. the trim should click into place with ease 
step 7 - if you have a universal shift knob, test fit some of the adapters to see which fits, when you are happy, screw the adapter into the bottom of the shift knob in first, then screw on the new gearknob.

and we are done!! 

i went for a yellow stitch to continue the gold ish theme i have with the car, i have the gold nismo carbon fibre aerial, bumper release, calipers, enginebay screws etc. 

this same process will work on all Nissan Primera P11 from 1996-2000. and the infinity G20 again 1996 - 2000.

 the process in principle is the same with many cars.

the gear gaiter was bought off ebay and the gear shifter was bought off amazon, see links below
