It is CVT.

Did you use the correct Nissan NS2 Fluid?
Normal Auto Gearbox Fluid will not work and can cause damage.

Have you scanned the Error Code?

It should be NS-1 actually, though NS-2 appears compatible.

Hi,
I had that.  My CVT is fine but its speed sensor needed replacing (p1720).  Call a local Sensor store.  Tell them the error code and buy a replacement.  Go pick up the part and ask them to show you the part's location on partsouq.com.  (it's near the starter motor on top of CVT, under throttle body...).  Quick and easy.  Part was $80 cost I think).  Fixing the error p1720 tells the part reporting p1715 errors that all is well so both can be cleared from fault log.  I hope.

Check that your both Rear Brake lights are working. When mine went out the car felt like it lost power and thiught the cat must be blocked up or the engine might be dying. Replaced the bulbs and got the power back. Mine was 2003 but its the same with 2001-2003 versions.
