As your airbag warning light bulb probably has died, it's is a bit complicated to follow the instructions so you'll need to count the seconds provided in the instructions.
The instructions imckay is linking to needs some comments. Here is my modified version: 0 If diesel engine, let the engine run until it's warm. If you do this on cold engine, in particular in wintertime, your battery, nor your glow plugs/relay will not be happy. 0.1 while you have the ignition on, pay attention to how the airbag light is flashing. If each flash and/or time between flashes is of equal length, your system is in fault mode. If so, keep going with all steps of this insrtuctions (you may skip step 6-7 if you want to). If at least every 15th pause between flashes has double duration of the others, you system is in diagnostics mode and you should jump to step 6 (or 8)
0.2 Make sure your ignition has been off for at least 10 minutes (but not so long that the engine gets cold)
1. Turn ignition from off to on. 2. The airbag warning light will stay on for 7 seconds, as soon as it goes off (within 1 sec) turn off ignition.
3. Wait for more than 3 secs. But NOT MORE THAN 5 SECONDS.
4. Repeat steps 1- 3 two more times.
5. Turn ignition on again. If you've done this correctly, the airbag warning light should flash with a different pattern than what you saw in step 0.1. This means your airbag system now is in diagnostics mode. If the flash pattern did not change (look through at least 15 flashes before you make up your mind), you failed in the process. Then leave the ignition off for at least 10 minutes, and start over from step 1.
6. (Optional) Now the airbag light will flash in a pattern. Count the long and short flashes. The pattern is repeated. Each time it starts over, the light will be off twice as long as between the flashes during the pattern. 7. (Optional) Lookup the airbag diagnostics in the factory service manual (can be downloaded from this forum). There you'll find what the pattern is telling you. Usually it is a loose cable connector under drivers seat or passanger seat. This connector is near the handle you use to adjust the seat forward/backward. And easily messed up by people reaching for the seat adjustment handle. (I've never heard of this problem in cars with power seats) 8. Turn ignition off for at least 5 seconds. Correct the problem. Usually, just press the connector under the front seats tight.
9. Redo steps 1-4 (or steps 0-4 if your engine got cold while you were decoding the pattern). This should reset the system and bring you back to normal mode.
10. Turn the ignition on. After 7 seconds the airbag light should go out, and stay off. If it still flashes, look for pattern. If the flashes are uniform, you did the process correctly, but didn't solve the problem, or there were more problems and you solved only one of them). If the flashes are not uniform, you failed in step 9. If so, let the ignition be off for at least 10 minutes and redo step 9. In short, the process is: Warm engine up, ignition off for at least 10 minutes. ignition on for 7-8 secoond, ignition off for 3-5 seconds, ignition on for 7-8 secoond, ignition off for 3-5 seconds, ignition on for 7-8 secoond, ignition off for 3-5 seconds, ignition on watch for pattern that confirmed you've done it right so far and optionally decode the flashes to identify the error code. ignition off for at least 5 seconds, ignition on for 7-8 secoond, ignition off for 3-5 seconds, ignition
on for 7-8 secoond, ignition off for 3-5 seconds, ignition on for 7-8
secoond, ignition off for 3-5 seconds, ignition on error should be gone
