I have a 1.8 petrol P12 estate, 116787 miles, 2004 year.

I've just had a top level service at a Nissan garage for £200. That included wash valet and 1 year european breakdown cover. Very happy and no complaints. Two problems cropped up....

Front cross member is rotten. They have quoted £116.22 for part only and maybe 8hrs labour. They recommended I go to a local bodyshop which could do the work in maybe 4hrs.
I'm hoping to get a mate to do the work but what would be involved?

Second problem
Rear engine mount pulling through. Nissan have quoted around £118 for part only and £214.01 supplied and fitted. Again what would be involved in fixing this? Is it difficult?

I haven't been on the site in a while as my Primera has been (touch wood) ok. I have been looking trough the problems though waiting on when my earthing problem will arise or my NATS problem!!

Thank you in advance

Adam

Hi. Rotten member is quite common on Nissans, unfortunately.
Check here for an example of the procedure http://www.npoc.co.uk/forum/nissan-primera-p12-cross-member_topic61070_page2.html

The rear engine mount I'm not really familiar with, can't be too difficult when I saw it done on my car, but given its location I'd imagine a workshop car lift makes things a lot easier than when you're flat on your back underneath the car.

Thanks for the quick reply. I did search for cross member before posting but only found P11 results.

The car in the link above is actually an almera, but the procedure is the same according to those who have performed the operation. Ant-dat could give you more info, maybe. He's done a few.
P12s have not come up often yet, as they are newer, but I think they will come up more often over the next few years.
