Hi Guys

I own a 2003 Primera P12 - I recently had the engine light come onCry - Checked and got a PO35 Crankshaft sensor A circuit warning.  Garage could not fix the issue with an OEM sensor - I was told to buy an original Nissan Sensor - £74 for a Nissan original, and the problem is still not fixedOuch?  The engine is not catching straight away as it usually does on ignition.

I am at a total loss, guys and would appreciate any advice.

Thanks in Advance

Si

Hi Simon. I take it you have a 1.8 petrol engine in your P12. If the new sensor is not curing it, you may find the Timing Chain has stretched.  Ouch

Hi Roy

Thanks for getting back to me on this - I dread to ask is changing the timing chain a big job?  Any idea of costs + is there anyway of checking?

You can visually check the timing chain tensioner Simon, to see if it at the end of it's adjustment. That will give you an idea if the chain is stretched. You can get the kits from £80 onwards, there is 1 on e-bay for £101.18p which includes the tensioner.   That is on the thinking you have  a 1.8 petrol engine

It is a big job, but I would never just do the chain, just as you would not just the clutch disk on a clutch

Is there anything else that could cause this?  Is it worth getting diagnosed via Nissan -Im worried about an expensive repair only to find that the bugger stays on.
