sorry forgot to add subject.. in the old days pinking was when the engine runs sluggish.. seems ok if i dont accelerate too fast? tickovers fine, revs up/down sometimes on 6-8000 but engine light on??? changed plugs checked leads al seems ok?? any help appreciated on my 2002 p11? thanks 1.8s...

2002 will be a P11-144 (could be P12 though)
sadly the car using coil packs (QG18DE engine) and of which the timing is completly controlled with the ecu,
The enigne also has 2 sensors (camshaft and crankshaft) these are the same sensor, might be worth removing and cleaning (also check with nissan and see if they where changed under the recall)

Have you done the car self diagnostic?

enigne has a chain,
and sadly in these engine the chain can stretch causing the engine light to come on and poor running
(i just replaced on on my N16)

There is a how to on the self diagnostic for the 144 in the how too section.
Probably worth doing that and seeing what the code comes back with.

thanks all helps appreciated! but its low mielage so chain should be ok?? thanks and its the engine u said with colpacks... and its the p11 just before the p12 came out... some reason i cant add pics here?

depends on how it's been driving and serviced etc,

P10 1992-1996
P11 1996-1999
P11-144 1999-2002
P12 2002-2006

thanks ill try that check 1st to see what codes i get.. so the codes should show up in the mielometer?? i presume as i have never done this before.. thanks.. as said low mielage engine light on... 36k.. runs ok just as said this fault..
