Hello,
I am a new member to the forum and I need some help. I have a P12 Primera of 54 registration. Occasionally, when I press the break pedal my dash board shows that my fog light has comes on. Worse sometimes when I indicate right my revs go down. Even better sometimes when I indicate right and slow down with the breaks the indicator light speeds...what's going on? I think it's electrical as my right head light has blown..twice!! Any suggestions before I go to a garage, is it something that can be fixed relatively easily or will I end up getting a whopping service bill? Thanks to anyone that can advise me, Ken. |

Hi and welcome!
![]() your p12 is probably suffering from a bad earth in the rear light cluster. Probably the right one. Luckily there is an easy and cheap fix. See here : http://www.npoc.co.uk/forum/p12-rear-light-removal-now-with-simple-earth-fix_topic16533.html. Good luck! |

Hi welcome to the NPOC forums, have you tried the simple earth fix look in the how to section and you will find out how to do this and believe me it does help this.

Oh, and check your bulbs as well. The indicator speeding up can be caused by a bad brake bulb.
* beat you to it, Gaz!

An even cheaper and I consider easier fix is to clean the contact pins with sandpaper or similar, especially the thin earth pin.
Spray the socket with switch cleaner and jab with a 1" paint brush to get this clean. Saves having an ugly wire poking out of the unit, unless the earth pin has corroded away. Has worked for me ! Can't say this will resolve your blown headlamp though. |

If in doubt give it a clout!

Ken, hello. I agree with wickydude and gazandsue58. I had the same exact problem on my P12 (2006), front headlights got burned, brake light was behaving funny, revs were dropping upon braking, cruise control wasn't working. engine lights was on and the camera would be kept on. All these happened only after I switched on the lights. I read the post the guys above recommended to you, applied the fix and most of my problems were gone. Following further an Engine ECU reset, the car's functionality was then completely restored. It took me about 2 hours but it can be def achieved in even less. I just have to replace the front headlights now but it's all good. Wish you luck and warm wishes for the season :)

Hi and welcome to the forum
The advice above should get you up and running, I would always inspect the blown bulbs first and check any you have just replaced to ensure like for like replacement

Hello timeshock, donvilan, Electrolyte, wickydude and of course gazandsue58.
I took on board all the advice and the links to information etc and also changed the bulbs etc. What absolutely fantastic help you guys have been....it's all worked and no more rev problems or super rapid ticking of my indicator lights. I have to say this NPOC is just too good, thanks again to you all for your kind help. I'm sure gonna be back if I get any other problems with my Primera. Kind regards, Kenpps1962
