Hi,
I am recent convertor to the joys of the Primera and I am thoroughly happy with my 52 plate 1.8i SE. One slight issue though, when I drive at around 60-70mph, the ABS light comes on and the screen displays ABS malfunction! So though the brakes work fine when this is happening, obviously the ABS is off and to be honest the most likely time that you'll need ABS is at speed! When I turn the engine off and then restart, the light has gone off. The car behaves fine around town etc, so it would pass an MOT should I require, however I would like to get to the bottom of this if possible. I am assuming that it is a sensor issue, just can't understand why it would only happen at speed if this is the case.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Corey

I think you may have slight damage to one of the ABS rings, or just a dirty sensor. I would recommend downloading the free electronic service manual from the general section and look up how to do the manual check where the system will tell you which area to look at. (maybe not if warning light is not on). In any eventuality examine the toothed rings for damageThumbs Up

there is a ABS system test how to in the how too section, might be worth following that to see which corner is issue

Try disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes. This resets the dash and speedo.

on many cars with ABS systems the light coming on at higher speed is indicative of a fault in the rear sensors rather than the front. I have no idea why this is, but that seems to be the pattern.

As well as other faults (and corroded toothed rings or a failed sensor are #1 and #2 on the list) it is worth just checking that all four tyres are the same size; if not this can confuse the ABS system too.

cheers

It's easy to find a broken ABS ring, jack car up, support it, go under with torch and look for a crack.

i had same problem, came on at high speed. the problem was the ABS ring was broke, and when reaching higher speeds (40-50mph) the ring would rotate fast and trigger the sensor, therefore activating the warning notice. got it repaired cost me about £160 altogether as i had to have the whole drive shaft (i think thats what its called) replaced
