Nissan Primera p12 1.8 2006 love affair.

   Good day to you all, new to the forum.
Have just inherited a Primera p12 from my long lost best friend who was convinced the Primera series of cars are some of the best available.
I would often be amazed at this love affair he was having with his Nissan!
The car had sat in Oxford for 14 months after his death not started.
From Someset we drove with a can of petrol, a battery and some jump leads.
Two seconds on the key and off she started, (for she is a she).
Appart from a blowing exhaust, it purred back to Somerset.
The following few days, we set about restoring the old girl back to some sort of glory.
Because it was my friends car it is something special anyway, but some new headlights, new exhaust system, washer jets and numerous tinkerings, the MOT was achieved.
And the outcome? We love it, so nice to work on and great to drive, laid back cruiser with dependability wafting through the cabin.
He was right, you have to live with a Primera to understand the concept of how one could bond with a machine, normally Triumph motorcycles only aquire such fondness for meat least.
So I shall end before I become to poetical about an inanimate object or is she?
Supposed there is not more information about Primera's generally.
I know from experience that changing the oil in the gearbox is good for improving sluggish changes, so that's next on the list.

	Hi and welcome to the forum I am pleased you are enjoying the car. Sluggish gear changes? is it a CVT?

	Hello and thank you for the welcome. Just the standard 5 speed gearbox. Took off the knob and shroud and sprayed the swivel joint with GT45 and oil and the result was splendid, much smoother. For the MOT it needed new headlights, complete exhaust system and washer jets for the windscreen washers. All fairly straight forward to fit really. Just an annoying squeak on the clutch pedal to remedy. have sprayed it with copious amounts of everything, but still it speaks.

	Do you think the squeak could be from behind the bulk head, the piston to the master clutch cylinder, or the push rod on the rubbing surface (real name) that the push rod goes through to to get the master cylinder

	Hello again, Yes indeed the squeak does appear to come from the bulk head area as you say. After liberal spraying on the interior side, no difference was made. Would I be right in thinking the master cylinder shares its fluid with the brake reservoir? I cannot see at first glance where the clutch master cylinder is bolted on to the bulk head. I shall definitely perceiver with it though as it really spoils an otherwise pleasant drive. Really appreciate your interest, thank you.

	Yes they are one and the same reservoirs. GT45? that's a degreaser isn't? you need silicon grease and get it onto the push rod inside the rubber cup if you can. the cylinder is in a horizontal line from the push rod going through the bulkhead from the clutch pedal, the push rod is short.

	Apologies, it's not GT45, it's GT85. On the can it reads: GT85 with PTFE. The lubricant, penetrant and water displacer, sounds good, hence the purchase. I shall take your word for it however and get some silicone grease. Many thanks again, when the all powerful one returns I shall go and get some.
