Since getting rid of my track car I’m looking to start taking my GT to more track days. I know the SR20 is a strong engine however one thing I am worrying about is oil starvation and the lack of aftermarket sump baffles to combat this.
To those who track their Primera’s, am I over thinking or is this an issue that tends to happen with these cars. Also anything else I need to look out for when tracking a Primera. Thanks! |

Yes it is a problem ,small quantity of oil in sump , need a larger sump really. No problem with super market drivers. But if you rag it flat out over a period of time then bearing trouble for sure .you can buy a after market baffled higher capacity sump for around 100 pounds. So your choice is stay on two wheels round the corners ,no oil surge ,no problem . or the larger sump . both of which are much cheaper than a engine rebuild .

Oh really, could you point me in the direction of where to get one of these? I’ve had a look around before and couldn’t find anything. Thank you! |

I just make sure it is full. Maybe a tiny bit over full.
Depending on your water pump pulley sizes, you'll probably be caveating at high RPM. You could short shift it, or just not worry about it if your sessions aren't that long. |

As far as i know there is no aftermarket bigger sump for a FWD SR20?
The only sump which is larger is the 20V sump from the P12. |

How much a shop may take for «bafflering» an existing sump?
Not much I think, I have seen a dry sump kit for the gtir block for near 1000 AUD that rocks. |
