Okay,

First attempt. Photos are mostly from the day I went to Germany. First one, inside with Navi remote left of the gear. Under the cd-player you can see the Xanavi DVD, which is useless.
Boot is spotless, not one spot of rust. Spare wheel has never been taken out, it's brand new.
Inner wheel cap plastics look very good. A very tiny bit of rust at the already mentioned front cross member. So that's a task for me and my son, who happily for me is an automechanic.
All maintenance thingies like pollen filter, airfilter, wipers, etc, are from Bosch.

The road map dvd is Birdview  Germany X5.1.
So here in Belgium I'm driving on a white no man's land. LOL
And driving back from Germany last week I could see the road map even from Germany is totally outdated.

If I'm correct the last update is somewhere 2012-2013? Here in Belgium they are getting the roads for free I suppose... Massive changes in the last 10 years.

Or is there another way to use this DVD drive in the car?

Everytime I'm starting the car a message appears: DVD/ROM not present.
So I'd like to disconnect it if possible and use the space as a storage compartment .

I have a Clarion CY100 radio in which I connected my Xcarlink. That works great.

If the DVD is in the Dashboard and not under the Passenger Seat, removing it will stop the Screen and Climate from working.
The 3.3V and 5V to run them are outputs from the DVD Drive.

I have seen some P12s where the DVD Electronics are hidden inside the Dashboard.

Thanks for the info. So I'll have to live with it.
Oh well, it's just one click on the Radio or Climate Control  button to get rid of the ennoying "no cd-rom" screen.

That means less storage space to put little things away. Coming from a tiny Toyota Yaris with lots of ( I think 6 or 7) storage possibilities... But everything else of my P12 I like more. Big smile
