Hi all,
Re : 2005 Primera P12 2.2dci.

Replaced front and rear shock absorbers, front and rear coil springs, front and rear shock mounts and all 4 dust covers (Everything used was brand new - SACHS brand).

Problem is that the rear suspension will not support any passengers in the rear seats, even children, it drops to almost no gap ober top of rear wheels.
It's not a settling in problem as it's been almost 3 months now.

When no load in the rear, the front suspension is about 40-45mm higher from centre hub to wheel arch. The front suspension has what looks visually as being too much of a gap above the tyre to wheel arch both sides.
The front suspension gap is not really affected by any load in the car.
You can hear the rear suspension (possibly the coil springs) creaking / settling after parking up following a drive.
Any suggestions on a cure for this or do I bite the bullet and have the rear shocks, rear coil springs and rubber mounts replaced again 3 months on, Sachs are supposed to be a good brand, although the front ones are problem free except for being too high looking when compared to the rear ones.

Thanks

Silly as it may sound, Have you put the new rear shock absorbers on Ouch because what you describe sounds like they are missing or completely knackered. Thumbs Down

Yes all is installed correctly, would it be the shocks or springs or both that are causing the problem.
The rear suspension now looks worse than when the original shocks were in.

Car passed its annual road worthiness test in April but the rear suspension does not support any weight, it drops a fair amount. Front suspension has heaps of height.

Car passed its test in April so advisory to change shocks.
Had all 4 corners done in June (All new SACHS shocks, coil springs, uper mounts and dust covers), but the rear height and ability to support any load is crap ever since. Front is fine except it looks too high now that the rear is lower.

There is something amiss somewhere, were the right parts fitted because they shouldn't have failed in that short time?

Definitely correct parts. I then cross referenced from the SACHS website once I seen the problem and the correct part numbers and all for the Primera P12 orginal parts.

The shock absorbers are no good then, as what you describe says your vehicle is riding on the springs only.
If you had this work done at a garage you want to be taking it back to them and tell them what the problem is.

they didn't grab onto the shock piston with some sort of pliers or vice, mark it, and caused them to leak..that has been known to be done, and ruin perfectly new shocks..

should never have to grab the piston to mount the top nut on...if anyone has that will be the likely issue to screwing up perfectly new shocks
