Hi and welcome to the forumHandshake

You ought to have the engine management light on it would help to have the error code, you  can read it manually have a look here:

http://www.npoc.co.uk/forum/p12-all-engines-read-reset-ecu-fuel-pump_topic54932.html

when you do it correctly just count the flashes of the light it will give a repeating sequence of four digits, 10 flashes representing zero

however if you are certain it is not changing gear and not something related to the simple earth fix then the following may helpThumbs Up

I have found this in relation to auto boxes

I have a P12 (2002) T-Spec with a CVT gearbox. I had the same problem. It turned out to be the primary speed sensor was broken not the stepper motor. I did a bit of Internet research before taking it to a garage, the most likely cause on forums etc. for this sort of fault is the stepper motor. I ended up taking mine to a gearbox specialist for diagnosis and it was there that the problem with the sensor was found. They managed to splice a second hand sensor in to the existing loom. They told me that if you are buying a new sensor, you have to buy the loom with it. They didn't tell me how much the loom with the sensor would cost. There was no indication of a fault on the dash (no engine management light, CVT light, etc.). Hope you get it sorted.

Hey all.

I got this fixed.

The in car analyzer and the workshops analyzer both showed faults to the speed sensor and the line pressure sensor.

Both the input and output speed sensors were replaced and the problem was solved.

Also replaced the battery which was showing low voltage and which can apparently be the cause of the 'line pressure sensor' warning in 80% of cases.
