Ok, just got a reply off the first guy - car is still available.
He has the logbook, service history, etc. I've messaged him asking if I could view it. I'll wait till I get replies off the other auctions, but what do you guys reckon? Worth playing safe and going for the Northwhich saloon? Bit further to go, but worth it I guess, if the clutch on the other one turns out to need replacing. How much would that cost? A few hours of labour and the parts, probably a fair few hundred... |

Youre probably looking at around 4 hours, say 50-60 quid an hour and then 100 to 150 for the clutch, so say 250-350 quid i would say, that about right fellas? or am i talking sh!t?

Probably a good estimate to replace the Clutch. If you bought the clutch yourself from a Factors, could get it for about £60, but then you'd need a garage to fit it (Unless you're handy with the spanners) which 4-5 hours sounds reasonable.
So depending on what you do £200 to £300 ish. You can see the Saloon spoiler in my Signature - Hatches have a single span. ![]() |

Mate... you do realise that they're both 2L?
Surely a 1.6 would be a bit better for insurance reasons at you're age? |

Ah.
Hmm. If the one in Northwhich is still for sale I'll go for that one then. I don't wanna be spending £300 straight away if I don't have to. Just gotta wait for a reply... Only 1 day left though. |

James, you'd think so, wouldn't you?
Reality is, most insurers want £100-200 more for the year for the 2.0 over a 1.6. For £200, I'd rather have the extra power for the 2.0. |

Hi and welcome to NPOC, just a word of advice to you, NPOC does not allow any form of trading in the General Sections, you must be a member in order to be able to trade in the trading section. As you have posted ebay links to cars for sale, a moderator is likely to remove them.
I cannot believe the price of insurance these days - and if I was you I'd be looking at a 1.6 to save yourself a bit of dough.
The 1.6 is not a bad car on performance and you can stick a bodykit on it anyway and a loud zorst to make it look a bit beefier

hello and welcome to NPOC
I am turning 18 this year too.. well... at the end
I have a P10 2.0. Insurance will be heartbreakingly high in price when i finally pass my test. Quotes i have looked at are £2,300 +, so my advice would be to look for a decent spec 1.6 for a while.. get those no claims bonus up and it will go down in no time.
Enjoy the forums,
John.
