Usually, you'd need to have the key reprogrammed. If that does not resolve the issue then the radio unit is faulty. Did any repairs on the car precede this issue?

Hi, thanks for the info, no repairs problem came out of the blue. I need to do a tyre check and there's a whining noise when on full lock with the steering, think its the steering pump, so I will probably go to the local Nissan dealership (they have always been very helpful) will ask about the radio and possible key re-program etc as well thanks again Stuart

Hi, thanks to all who responded, the issue has been sorted, coincidentally bad starting flared up soon after, wouldn't start at all this morning. Placed battery on charge for a couple of hours, wow radio working again ! went to local motor factors for a new one. Also had a word with local Nissan main agent about the radio fault and the noisy steering He said they didn't get many problems with Primera steering pumps, only low fluid levels due to leaks from the return pipe to the pump which runs near the bottom of the radiator., so I topped up the fluid but to be honest it was only a little, so I will keep checking. He said that in his experience the half a dozen times that they tried to re-program the keys for the radio fault it never worked anyway. regards Stuart
