Just got my 3rd Primera a 2001 plate P11-144 1.8s in silver, 49k on the clock and drives like new. Traded up from a 1997 P11 2.0gx in green and before that I had a 1995 P11 2.0 eGT
Guess I like Primera's lol.
I tend to do most of the servicing/repairs myself as I don't really trust garages. Just fitted new LCD bulbs in the dash and fitted the cd changer from my old P11 into the 144 :-)
My new P11-144 is probably the smoothest Primera I have had, very taught on the road and a nice punchy engine. The 1.8 has more low down torque than the 2.0 in my old primera, so much so that I was wheelspinning everywhere the first few days. The out and out grunt is not quite the same as the 2.0 but it's not that far off. The engine does have a nice growl when pushed hard, but not the 'scream' that the GT had.
I find the clutch and gearchange a lot smoother and the car is a lot quieter all round.
Some nice touches in the 144, like the stereo getting louder the faster you drive, the stereo controls on the wheel, the climate control, the curry hook thing, the arm rest in the back, cup holders etc.
As a family car that is fun to drive it's hard to beat. :-)

would help if I could spell Aberdeen lol.
The new 144 is really nice, enjoying every mile :-)
I have the sneaking suspicion that Nissans official 0-60 on the 1.8 is wrong it feels much faster than the 10.8 seconds.

I agree. I also think the official 0-60 is wrong. Probably nearer 9.8.

Yup, might even be a bit quicker than that, if only the rev limiter didn't kick in just at 60 in second gear lol.
Sorted a squeak in the rear, it was the plastic lining for the boot lid, not clipped in place properly.
Now all I have to track down is the click/clunk from the passenger side door area. Sounds like something that is moving about under acceleration/braking. The hunt continues.
Does anyone know if the p11-144's have brake assist as standard, mine is a 2001 ariel at the front model.
many thanks,
------------- Kerwin.

I think all p11-144s have the brake force distribution as standard.

"Some nice touches in the 144, like the stereo getting louder the faster you drive"
I could've sworn the stereo was doing this, but I thought I was going mad!

Welcome,
The QG18 does seem faster than the spec. there is a vid clip of my 1.8 P12 knocking around that showed me hitting 60 in 10 even with the compulsory change to third at 58.

Got the recall done on the crank sensor f.o.c. vian local Nissan dealer who also washed and hoovered the car, bonus!!
My exhaust centre section just started to blow, pretty noisy now, I called the garage I got it from 3 weeks ago and they are replacing it for nothing :-)

full member now :-)
Just fitted the cd changer to the correct bracket in the boot. The two bolts had rusted under the car and they sheared when I tried to remove them, so out came the drill and out came the sheared bolts. 2 new bolts and all is well.
