Hello to all,

I'm from Macedonia and I have just joined to the forum, because I realy need to buy second car and I'm interested to buy used (second hand) Nissan Primera P12 station wagon diesel from 2003-2004 year. Because I realy don't have experience with Nissan cars please can you help me to decide whether to buy Primera or not. I have information that this type of Primera drives Renault Motor (which I don't like much), is it the same motor used in Renault cars or with some improvements? And I need to know one more thing, which model is better 2.2 dci or 1.9 dci and why?

I wish you all the best and looking forward for your responds.Wink

Hello and welcome to the NPOC.Handshake

The 2.2 YD 22 engined Primera P12 is a Japanese designed and built diesel engine 139bhp. Have a look at the following link.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_YD_engine - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_YD_engine

The 1.9 F9Q engined Primera is a Renault engine 120bhp. I think the same was fitted in the Laguna

They both have their share of faults some of which which can be put down to poor or inadequate maintenance especially infrequent oil and filter changes .
You will get better economy out of the Renault engine.
