Hi there. Just got a 69k milage P10 Primera LX. I used to own a P10 as a first car and really loved how well it drove and how frugal on fuel it was. I then bought an Accord and although it's super quiet, faster and atleast as comfy, cost nearly twice as much to run. So after seeing a green P10 advertised with 1 previous owner from new and only 69K miles on the clock, I couldn't refuse (especially with the £495 asking price)!
So i'm in the process of fitting my nice USB Sony head unit that I have had for a while now but I am worried sick about the original cassette unit that's in the car (yes amazingly it has it's original unit!). Ideally if I ever sold on the car i'd like to keep the original unit in it too however it will almost certainly ask for the code if I was to fit it back in the car. I have scarred the internets for any info and came up dry on finding the code. I know sometimes the codes are printed somewhere randomly on the car in a usually difficult to access place or in semi-rare cases, the manual.
So I guess in short does anyone know where I can find it?
Pics of the car to follow soon if anyone is interested in viewing?

The earlier ones you used to have to take to a specialist and have them decoded, I can't remember if Nissan changed the units over later in production though. Can't say Iv ever heard of another way of getting the codes for these ones, just pot luck if it's in the manual.
I wouldn't stress too much about it though, it might not even ask for the code and if it does then assuming there's still places doing it it's about £20 to fix it iirc, won't cost you a fortune
Sounds like a decent p10, look after it!

Welcome to the NPOC forums, you could ask the owner if he was the only owner of this classic he might have it, or it could be on a little piece of metal on the spare key.

welcome along fella, get some pics of the car up for us asap, we like pics here. as for the code ...forget about it, fit a decent aftermeerkat option and enjoy ..... by the time you sell it again, the new owner won't be too worried if it hasn't got the original fitted, I've had a few P10s now and never bought or not bought on the basis of the headunit being original or not

I'm
not too worried, just nice to keep the original and working if possible
but if all else fails i'l just leave it and just sell it with the coded
head unit purely for interest's sake. I'l read through the manual again just in case it might have something that I may have missed.

Worth
a shot, i'l ring the garage sometime tomorrow and ask about it, wouldnt
hurt anyway. Nothing on my spare key's though, other than a small key
with "Nissan" printed on it (something to do with the alarm?).

Definately will upload some, just watch this space. Just tidying it up first making it look as presentable as possible (for an 18 year old car anyway). As for the code, as I said i'm not too fussed, just would be nice is all but if all else fails i'l just remove it regardless.

Welcome to the club! I think the codes were on a card (maybe red?) that was slipped into the pack with the manual and service history etc originally but dont hold me to that.
The small key is indeed for disabling the alarm. Under the bonnet the alarm module (usually back right at top) has a rubber cover and a key slot under there. Just turn the key in it to disarm the alarm if you ever need to

Now that's something I never knew about the small key so if you have got that the original owner will more than likely have the radio code.

Well not much luck on the radio front but thought i'd upload some shots of the car in it's current state...
The car in it's entirety (note the weird paint effect's, it's just water ):

Rear:

Interior (very tidy, best part of the car I reckon'):

Mileage under 70k's, nothing for a car like this. (280 miles on the trip is what it took to get it back to my home):

A mysterious very official Maplins OEM button:

What does it do? Nothing as far as I can tell, I like to pretend it gives me extra boost or something...
Will post a few more pics on the stuff I plan on sorting out in a bit too. It's no eGT (which I know are really popular here) but since I can't afford to run such a beast, atleast I have a very good handling car that can do well north of 40MPG. Not to metnion she was destined for the scrappy, so it's nice to save a P10. Plus they are getting to become a rare sight on the roads nowerdays.

Hi and welcome aboard. I have a P reg P10 LX 1.6 too. Yours looks to be in very good condition inside. Had mine for over ten years. The only thing that ever goes wrong is the alternator for some reason we've been through three but not a big worry. Threw our cassette deck away so no worries about the key code for us. I'm no mechanic but ask away if you have any questions. This is my second P10.

Cheers SRIGUY, good to see some love for the 1600' here. Altinators are and always have been an issues with P10's (P11's too?). Not too fussed about it as parts for these are dirt cheap. NOS ones seem to be around £30 - £40.
Someting interesting I spotted later on on the car is that it has been in an accident some point in it's life and some parts arn't quite 100% (came from a red donar car). Not sure if there's much I can do or is worth trying to get fitting better but I have a few plans for mine and some jobs anyway:
Fit new stereo DONE
Fix sunroof winder DONEFit CUPHOLDERZ! DONE
- Fit LED's in the
buttons and clocks. PART DONE
- Fix indicator button/switch
- Buy ABS and other OEM window decals (A steep £11 - £13 EACH from Nissan direct, ouch!)
- Unblock the rear washer jets
- Find a set of (pref. larger) OEM Nissan alloys
- Improve the fit of the front panels and grille
- Buy & fit clear side repeaters
- Buy & fit Alloy rings for the speedos
- Find OEM raised rear spoiler & fit
- Look into rear electric window kit
- Look into a dashboard dimmer
Here's some pics of the bits that need work:
Notice the gap on the front wing:
Very crusty alloys:
Sunroof winder now fixed and folds up unlike before:

Here's where I got the cup holder. Be sure to keep the metal fixing plates that holds the cassette holder/storage compartment.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-Honda-Nissan-Cup-Holder-Car-Drink-Can-DIN-Stereo-/320661702043?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4aa8ed459b
Here's a different style one, cheapest too:

And if you want CD stroage:

They are standard DIN fitments and the centre dash is made up of 3 din sized modules. Simple. :)

Here's a quick update:
Engine bay was covered in
18 years of grime and a real thick baked on layer of some goo that was
all over the engine bay and rocker cover. This is what it looked like
after a scrub:

Today
I went around with (no joke) an old bank card to scrape off that
yellow-ish gunk and after a further scrub and some Autosol polish it
currently looks like this (not too bad I think considering I didn't
remove the cover):

Also
did a once-over on the other grubby bits but still not finished yet. I
hope to get some high temp red paint and pick out the text, or I might
use black, not sure yet... Also i'l get that rusty manifold cover off
and give it the wire brush treatment, respray and then reattach it
(hopefully transforming it's looks). Other small jobs include repainting
the battery holder and radiator mounts. All in good time anyway but
she's beginning to look more presentable on the engine bay front.
Looking more like a 70k mile car rather than a 7 million k car.
Now onto the outside, sometimes it's the little things that make the difference:
Ok, it's fake but I think it looks tidy enough...
Also:

Them
years painting 1:72 Supermarine Spitfires didn't go a-miss. OFC I went
on to do the "A" and "N" and gave it another coat too so there's no
spots.
Still got plenty more to do, not sure anyone is botherd about a non-eGT but thought i'd update anyway.

Nice tidy up jobs mate The yellow stuff is a wax coating that they used to apply to protect things but always looked a bit of a mess to be honest!

Just a quick update:

Amazing what you can do with a bit of wire brush and some spraypaint.
Next on the list are the radiator mounts and the battery holder in satin black. Then I'l call it quits on the engine bay since it's getting to the point where I will have to start removing gearboxes to improve it!

Thanks Tom, you're probably right then. I suppose it's good that they did despite the effort removing it. My last P10 had a corroded rocker cover so atleast it did it's job, even if it looked unsightly. I'l do my best to turn up chap, it's a fair drive but I am sure it will be worth it.
Do you know if you can get rubber covers for the strut tops? I know some cars had them but it saves alot of crap build-up and I think it would look tidier with some if they exist.

Got round to doing a brake caliper. Just one I hear you say? I would have liked to have done two at the same time but the wheelnuts said otherwise (most of which are crusted on). Only managed to just about get one wheel off so took heed of the moment and gave it a go.

I'l have to get to my local tyre place sometime and ask them to sort the nuts out on the rest of the wheels (to a level a human being with a cross brace can undo them anyway). Discs are rusty as I havn't been using it much this month.
