ok silly question... whats the best oil to put in a p11 primera gt.. i heard magnetix is ok.. any ideas? thanks all scrappydoo |

I am on my 3rd Nissan (I currently have a P11) and I have always used 10W-40 SL or SM spec oil here in New Zealand. However you may need to use 5W-40 in the UK, depending on the climate. But stay with SL or SM spec.
My practice has been to change oil & filter every 10,000 km. I travelled 225,000km in my last Nissan (a Bluebird) and when I sold it at 280,000km it was not using oil and the engine was in good nick.

I use 5w40 fully synthetic Motul 8100 xcess, car runs like a dream with over 116,000 miles on the clock. Wouldn't run a thicker oil what with cold starts etc. -------------

Halfords 10W40 semi-synth has done for me in a P10 and a P11, change oil every 5-6000m. No oil consumption ever, and engines as good as new, the highest mileage one was 158000m. Regular changing is the most important thing, especially for cam chain endowed engines.

I use a motor factor 10-40W Synthetic in my P11 1.6. (Poor student you see) Never consumes any Oil. Definately Change Oil and Filter every 4000 to 6000 Miles, keeps it all fresh and will help the engine's life. -------------  |

the nissan book you get with the car says to change the oil every 4500 miles.
10w-40 semi I use castrol, like golden honey!!!! ------------- SR21 YO! no mistake im rollin 2.1 litres... |

High mileage oil usually means it's a thicker oil, to compensate for any engine wear. Not a good idea in a modern 16v engine IMHO. You need a relatively thin oil to get good pressure up top, around the cams etc.
I ran my ten on 10w 40 full synthetic, changing oil and filter every six months. -------------  RIP 10, hello Connect! :(

I use 10w40 GTX magnatec in my P11 1.6. I get it from costco £32 for two cans. I change it every 5000 miles. Uses no oil at all and runs 100% fine on this. Car is currently on 82000.
Also comma oil is an alternative, The stuff in the silver bottles. Ive used this in all my previous cars.
I get the magnatec now as it works out cheaper for me.
