If its a sr20de,the coolant sensor is located near the oil filter/power steering pump ! Its threaded into the head.
Check thermostat, make sure belt is tight to drive water pump, could the water pump be leaking,is the rad ok. Had any work done on the coolant system lately ect ??

Id' be starting with the thermostat first because it won't cost you a penny to see if this is where the problem lies.. You can just take it out and lob it in a pan of water to test etc.
