Did you replace the lamp in the boot with an exact like for like?
Sounds like the common earth problem, although I don't think it normally affects starting.

Ah, sorry, it's my bad English that makes me unclear here. It was a problem with the lock that made the open door symbol in the dash board light up. Sorry for the confusion.

Thank you, this is apparently a very nice forum! Smile

I'm afraid that I may have reset the codes by having the battery disconnected for a long time. I learned how to get the error codes after that.

But the car has run around 230 000 km (142 915 miles), so it's not (?) unlikely that it's the timing chain, I will try to figure out how to see if that is the problem.

Thank you very much for the help!

Hello folks, Happy New Year to all of you! Having a 2005 P12 here.

The engine was suddenly hard to start and was loosing power (the engine lamp lighted in periods in a month or so before this) and the symptoms was just as what it was a year ago when two ignition coils stopped to work, but this time it will still not work after I changed coils. I have also tried to remove the battery and count to 10 before connecting it again, but this time, nothing helps.

Now as the motor is cold, it will not start at all and it still seems to me that it's only 2 cylinders that tries to drive the motor around. I have run out of ideas and hopes you have some suggestions so I still can fix the car or find out whats wrong by myself. Some summary:

  • The error codes are 0000, I stupidly had the battery disconnected for more that 12 hours, so no help there.
  • All the ignition coils gives a sparkle when I try to start the motor.
  • All the ignition coils connection points shows the same values in a Ohm meter.
  • I have tested all combinations of my available 6 ignition coils, the symptoms remains the same.
  • I have checked all fuses, but can't see that anyone of them are broken.
  • This is a suspicion and I don't know if its right or not: I have had problems with the boot lid light earlier, and maybe I'm just imaging something, but I suspect that the car have had starting problem connected to that (some driving computer bug/problem?).
  • No new error codes shows up after trying to start the motor, it's still 0000.

Do anyone here have some suggestions that I still can try? Thanks!

Jostein
